im probably going to get a heat shield or make one so its just cool air that comes in

how much difference do the direct replacement K&N filters make?

no induction kit and keep your own pipes?

Works a treat on mine but then my air is well cold :D
It'll still be better than the std one as the KnN is designed to give more air flow :thumbs
I put a replacement KnN in the wife's Focus and it was immediately noticeable :sly

i have put them in a couple of petrol Suzuki GV's in the past but i can't say i noticed the difference, when my air filter is due for a change i think i will try one :thumb2

There's more throttle response. And I think it's better for the turbo because it's not straining to pull the air through the pipes, airbox and standard filter.

Well got mine today and fitted it within 10min.Did find it respond better now and can even hear the turbo now.Seems to pull better as i had to move some horses and didn't seem to strain up hill as bad as b4.Still need to do the ERG blanking off yet and once done ill work out if its better or worse with the MPG.But have to say so far so good :thumb2

Rite been a week now and thought id work out the mpg.I just filled it up and worked it out and I'm getting about 21 mpg around town. Not sure if that good or what as i never really worked it out b4.I can now hear the turbo working i can hear it come in about 1800rpm.Not sure if that right as i thought it was about 2200rpm:nenau .Still not don't the blocking of the ERG yet and need to find a bloom ball bearing to do it.

when i blanked off my pipe, i used a shelf puin, fits perfect! means I can reverse the damage easy enough aswell.

21 around town isn't bad. I'm not familiar with fuel consumption on the non-intercooler but the TDi should do around 25-27 combined with a K&N on it.

Well fitted mine, and there is a big difference and does sound great, as for the fuel economy, early days yet.:thumbs

OK this is something I will have to look into, I can see no point in sucking in warm/hot air from the engine bay, but have not looked at any restrictions from under the wing, watch this space but not for a couple of weeks as I am off on holls, Rick
