im stocking up with veg oil for when we go wales.
Im thinking of getting a couple of jerry cans as room in the car will be limited with the amount of camping gear we take:augie

any one got any ideas where to or how to fit them to the out side of me truck?

only idea I have so far is to move the roof rack bars close together with just enough room to fit them in? and strap em on.:nenau

Put the spare on the roof and Jerry cans on the door. You can get ready made lockable hangers for them too :thumbs

I can get you some from bookers if you like steve if you don't want to lug them all the way here.

I always worry about storing veg in jerry cans, I have fears that I'll just open it one day and it would all be mouldy :lol

shops in wales:nenau:nenau
don't want to see any even if I can find one:lol

but seriously.
What are the legalities of using veg oil as fuel?
more than one person has said to me its illeagal:nenau
is it:nenau and what penalties do I face if caught:eek:

you are allowed to use 2500ltrs per year if not used for business. anything over that you are liable for tax. you are required to keep a log of useage, for the tax man to look over if required by the rozzers. i usually keep my reciepts from costco in the glove box just incase, tho technically i should have a log book in the vehicle. it is not illegal in any shape or form, unless commercial bud :thumb2

You are allowed to use upto 2500 litres per year but you need to keep receipts cus if you do get checked they want proof that you have not used more than 2500 litres in a 12 month period

Saying that you need to a lot if miles to reach that quantity especially if you mix it with diesel/ petrol

I'm too lazy to keep receipts :lol but I would expect that an Mot certificate should suffice to prove mileage travelled within the 12month period, and volume of fuel used based on the manufacturers stated fuel consumption figures...
The receipt idea is frankly ridiculous anyway, what if you accidentally mislaid a few...
Receipt idea is based on honesty. The powers that be would probably turn to the idea I've just laid out above if they really wanted to put a case against you! Then you're back to defending yourself on a pile of receipts, or the appropriate amount based on the argument that you don't use veg oil full time.

Could they seriously come up with a more idiotic idea?! :doh

I've not heard about the receipts thing, that's right gay :lol
As above 2500 litres, even in the Trol, will get some serious miles.
I reckon they'd have a job to prove you've used more than 2500, so why bother being paranoid.
Live for today and screw the system, it's shagged anyway :doh

its the law, i didnt right it, gay or not :lol
basics of tax paying are reciepts, not just writing shit in a log book. its fact not fiction. :thumb2
so thats the legalities sorted.

Back to Tesco monday:thumbs
fez I will send you some cash closer to the time to get me 40 litres or so for my return journey. I don't want to go shoppin while im there:augie

my mind is settled thanks lads. the mot is proof enough without recipts:thumbs

the way people have been talking to me had me worried. they made it sound as bad as using pink......

Steve, panic not, I think people are confusing PRODUCING and using
A producer MUST keep all records etc, but a user ? That's tosh I'm sure of it. You just need one ordinary derv receipt and any veg oil usage argument is shot to bits.
I still reckon for Joe blogs user, HMRC would have to prove you've used more than 2500 to apply any duty.
