expense mate! If I could afford it i'd just buy a wrangler, my mate Tristan is building an awesome one at the moment thats running Unimog axles :eek::eek:

I'm talking really cheap, donor car for a few hundred quid. Then with minimal expense improve articulation and suspension travel (with lots of body cut off too!) and throw some huuuuuge tyres on for diff clearence. May have to look at lower gearing too which is cheap for some motors but stupid for others...

All the time i'm being pointed right back at the good old SJ, not much else to choose from :(

CJs aren't that expensive are they though.....especially if you got for a petrol one?

Got a mate on a Z4 forum who rock crawls a highly modified CJ10 but apparently they are like hens teeth in this country....but the 5/6/7 is a different story pricewise....or even an older Cherokee?

Could be the answer as the more I think about it the less I see anything suitable for less than a grand.

Really fancied something with coils though, leaves you are a little limited on options and even parabolics dont flex like coils.

My ultimate would have to be something like this but as you can see its no Briercliffe trials machine, you wouldnt want to mark it

Hell yeah, now were talking Briggie! Love Willys jeeps :thumb2 :thumb2 :thumb2

Will have a good look at that site this evening :thumb2

Also going to go and contradict myself by mentioning the one green oval I would have... series 3 ex mod lightweight.
Not a normal Landy tho, stronger axles than normal, a stronger gearbox and a stronger 5 bearing engine.
But i'd bin that and stick a Ford Essex V6 in it :D

Again well out of my league for funds tho

niva's are perfect really for what you are looking at doing

i dont know if i would want to take a willy's jeep on a trial run lol

seems that the engine can be swaped for pritty much anything

niva would be a bit of an odd ball the first day you took it out but then people might want one lol

cost of parts isnt that bad and you may be able to pick up broken niva's occasinally cheap

but from what i read they are actually pritty strong and tend not to break things easily

that niva was out with us on sunday

my jeep clone, brilliant! good toy.

Dont you know it! :thumbs :lol

BADGER - I like Mahindras and if I could find one cheap enough i'd snap it up!
Theres one in the trialling club that pretty much clears every stage and wins hands down! But its not standard...
2.8 td Diahatsu engine, either Patrol or Land Crusier axles (cant remember which) and rather than leaves for suspension the guy has made A-frame mounts that pivot from the centre of the car!

Absolutely amazing where that thing can get!

Flex aint the word, the bloody thing twists its way over the most extreme obstacles you've seen  :clap

Karl - its the yellow thing you watched win that day me and Dave were trialling the SJ416

yes i remember it was awesome but forgot what it was called it was the only thing to do the last climb
