Hi Guy's,
I'm new to the forum love the terrano but not the rust, went to change the rear coil springs today as i removed the n/ side spring with the upper rubber cup the round seat where the spring sits at the top has a large hole in it,i don't think a plate would be strong enough any advice would be helpful, thanks in advance

Pics would help mate

It has a hole in it anyway lol

Yep pics would help, I may have just what you need, how far are you from Bexhill? Rick

only 3/4 hour away, I have a scrap chassis if it is feasible to cut out the bit you need, I will try and look tomorrow but I have a busy day, Rick

PS the terrano is still running well ( on rape seed oil ) still towing my caravan and when it passes its next MOT in November I will attempt to repair the bubbley front wings. bri

I think we all wished we only lived 3/4 mile from Rick.

Rick is certainly the best man to advise on this one.
Try posting a pic of the rotten part.
Best regards, Rustic

that was some good work your lads did to save your T2 well done, just shows what can be achieved, Rick

Hi,
I've tried to upload the photos but the message is coming up that it's failed i'll try again later

use photobucket , then just post the img code in reply box :thumb2

had a look today and the top spring brackets while rusty are sound, think probably the best method of removal is cut the chassis each side as was done it the clip in one of your posts, but welding back? I have a welder an can weld but do no have the facilities needed for such a big transplant job (hoist and relevant body/chassis supports0 also once cut out my chassis become immoveable, I do not mind that too much as I have the space and will probably cut it up for scrap anyway, but at the moment do not have the time, if they are still available new ones from the dealers may be an option, Rick

Ive got bare chassis here will check condition if youre interseted
