what size bit do you want, I got lots, but willing to send a small piece through the post if that is all you need, Rick

Thanks for the offer Rick but i have it covered, what i have got to do first is make a tool to remove the castle nut holding the wheel bearing in place properly out of angle steel

will a ring spanner not do it? Rick

Don't know,i took a quick look this evening and found a belt tensioner tool i made for a mit shogun out of angle, but that's a good idea i will try a ring spanner tomorrow evening have been busy at work this week not had a lot of time to get on with the terrano,i'll take a few photo's

Looking good, thanks for the pics. Don't forget the bump stops, they do take some of the load off the springs and hangers and stop rear end sag.

Regards. Bri

Thanks,Bump stops have long departed from this Terrano, can someone let me know the dimensions of the bump stops i saw on one of the poly bush sites an alternative that may fit

Ah now I see the pic of the half shaft nut, you need a "C" spanner, I have a range of these, used them on the annular gland nuts on tipper rams, some were 5 or 6 inches diameter, but most common method of undoing and doing up of theses nuts is hammer and drift, Rick

I tried the hammer and drift but these are tight the castle nut is lower than it shows in the photo so a C spanner may not fit the best tool is the Nissan tool but i expect it would cost a fortune ,i might try a 80mm x 4mm bar drill a hole in the centre so it slides down the shaft then drill a hole either side to take M8 set screws then grind the set screws down untill they fit in the castle nut and a little heat,i want to get the other stuff done first with the axle stripped it light enough to move back under the terrano then build it up once in place,i was impressed by the heavy duty diff very little free play between crown wheel and pinion

another method is drill the nut, then with a sharp chisel, split it, and fit a new nut, but have you thought of how you going to get the bearing off the shaft? bet that is not going to be easy, in the past have used oxy torch to heat bearing then hit very hard with chisel on inner race to expand it, it then falls off (outer race was cut with oxy torch) then new race was driven on with scaffold pole (protection over race) then nut etc, Rick

I don't see why i can't split the nut as you say give the bearing plenty of heat replace seal bearing etc and replace the castle nut with a hexagonal nut from Namrick it can only be metric fine with thread lock then use a large ring spanner

Hi All,
On closer inspection of the off/side spring holder i decided to replace it when i removed the load sensing valve(it's fitted to the spring holder) i found it to be totally seized, here's the question is this valve fitted to any other Nissan or does anyone have a working second hand one for sale,i will be uploading some more photos this week

i did think of a bias valve the guys that race use them also on the Demon Tweeks site , I've had the load sensing valve sitting in Plusgas for 24 hours but seized solid, i bet that most of these valves are seized solid on the terrano's given there exposure/age this valve must be fitted to another jap/Nissan they would not produce it just for the Terrano

Hi All
Cut the end off(angle grinder) the old LSV plug end and removed the two pistons with one spring, the seals on the pistons are o-rings if you could get the plug out of the end of the LSV i think you could get the pistons moving freely again, can someone tell me the length and width of the rear bump stops i need to source these as mine have long left the terrano, are they a MOT requirement?

My terrano passed the Mot without bump stops has have others on the site, but they are part of the suspesion being very springy and they start to come in to use with very little load in the car. Try to get some off ebay I asked someone who was breaking and he put them on for £25.

Regards. Bri

I did put some landrover ones on just look the part but they were ofcourse of no use. Just a bit of 'bullshit baffles brains'. So I was pleased to get the correct ones even if they were used. Bri
