:)hi.all i have today put a nissan air filter in my t2 to replace the cheap sh.t 1 i put intheir:doh and put in some shell v power diesel in:) not the morrisons diesel i always put in the truck!!! and i cant belive the differance no smoke or cough when driving the truck like i used to have which was doing my head in:( their is still a small cough and bit of smoke when truck is stood and reved!! but nothing when i drive it:) so would any body think that cheap super market fuel and a cheap air filter would have caused the problem??:confused: and i dont think the cold weather helps!!!! the love is back for the truck now:) any ideas why these would make a differance please let me know..thank to all how helped me though my troubled time with my t2:thumbs hopeful she want play up again fingers crossed:bow

maybe putting a ball bearing in the EGR Valve might stop some exhaust smoke.

hi theirs no smoke when driving :D only a slight cough and a small puff of blue smoke when reved stood still.. their is no egr vavle on my t2:thumbs still cant understand how a nissan air filter and desent fuel can make such a differance:confused::confused:

well now you do! LOL

As for the residual stuff, you'll be surprised what a few miles of thrashing will do for it. My trucks get worked hard, including a lot of motorway cruising at 80-90 and I've never had a minute of trouble with fuel, MAF etc..

My most recent truck I bought a year ago (s/h for the first time) and while the price was great, it ran a bit rough, but I could see it had been seriously underused....the bloke even left a decent locking Thule roofrack on cos he was too stupid to know how it came off - after a few weeks of driving it more appropriately it was a different vehicle! These trucks definitely thrive on a bit of use and don't like being left idle for long.

Couple more tanks of decent fuel through it and she'll be right as rain....

By the way - the cold weather is nothing to do with it....in fact when the MAF does its job it puts more fuel in because colder air means more oxygen, so it runs better in winter than summer TBH!

true will have to use mine more... it is sat most the week as i use the d21 every day for work,WELL WHEN IM ABLE TO WORK AND NOT MAKING SNOWMEN!!! i cant belive the differance tho..a change of fuel and a proper air filter has made. but you cant get champain at lemon aid prices.. buy cheep buy twice!!!!! learnt my lesson:doh

thanks for the link for air filter:) i payed nealy that for a nissan 1:doh recon i get a refund?:D

Fortunately haven't had any air filter problems but if these engines can't suck in enough air there is a huge difference. It's a bit like they are drowning themselves and can't burn up the fuel being pumped in. Likewise is there a huge difference if there is something wrong with the fuel or fuel supply. Other members have made the observation that fuel can definately vary from one filling station to another and some brands of fuel just don't seem to suit some trucks. Glad you seem to have got the problem sorted.:clap:clap Next time I will go out in the dark and take a photo of the fuel filler cap just in case you go sticking anything into the diagnostic connector unnecessarily :lol:lol

thanks my truck seems to be running like when i bought it now no smoke ect.... be good if you could go outside in the dark and take a pic of the fuel cap :lolas mine sticks a bit.will i need to plug it in to find the fault:nenau no more supermarket fuel for me its caused me a lot of sleep less nights the girl freind too:naughty
