Just thought id give a shout out to you all.Decided to ditch the previa and get another maverick(last one i had was 6yrs ago) as ive now got horses and needed something up for the job.Love the motor but seems to have a gearbox noise in 1,2 nd 3 gear now.4th and 5th are fine so it seems that will be an expensive job to sort.Anyway im glad i joined and was well worth the £10 for full membership and hope to speak to you all soon.

Hi mate and a very good welcome, yes it gets a bit hectic sometimes, Rick

Hi, and welcome to the club.
Which model have you got, the TD or Tdi with the scoop on the bonnet?

From reading other threads, if the box is quieter in 4 & 5th, it is usually the input bearing as in high gears the drive is nearly straight through.

I had slight whine and put in some molyslip, do a search on molyslip in the forum, there are some interesting posts.
May not quieten it in all cases, but worked on mine.
Regards, Rustic

Mine is a 1995 TD version. That post is bang on to how my box is.I'll try to take it to a local transmission place near me tomorrow and also see what they say.I was starting to get hacked off with mine but it redeemed its self last nite in the horse field by moving bails of haylage though 6inches of mud with ease :bow.If it is the input bearing ill look into the cost of it or if not look for a box

Hi Sp00k and welcome to the fold.
For info:- I put a rebuilt box into my last T2, a '96 TD. It cost me 750 GBP to buy from the UK, and a local garage fitted it for about 400 Euros. That's a lot I know but here in deepest darkest France one doesn't have a huge choice of facilities. The local Nissan dealer was talking telephone numbers for a replacement & fitting.
Bon courage! CL

Well it seems to be an endless money pit with this motor so i think ill sell it off as spares (£300 in the first week)I can no longer justify in carrying on as the gearbox there quoteing me £250 for one then i need to get it fitted and now the fuel lines are going as well as the brake servo. ive no fund left.Ill put pics of it up soon as i may break it for spares.

Yeh it was infact.Turned out to be a rite lemon.I just did the brake and other bits as well.:doh .And didnt find it funny the next day when the brakes failed with my 5 kids in the car.......still think about who to go after the seller or the garage that moted it.Not the best thing to do to someone with mental health problems
