I posted earlier problem with my Terrano R3m-V R50 Chassis with ZD30 DDTi engine. I am living at 3000mtrs above sea level. The motor is very sluggish. I was pointed in the direction of maf failure, which was indeed the case. I have now fitted a new maf, which is working normally ( 1.7 volts at idle, 2.8 volts at 2,500 revs and over 3volts at 4,000 revs ). The motor is running very slightly better, but still very sluggish. The engine revs no problem but lacks power. Any further hints where to look for continuing fault. The mechanic in the garage took out the oil dipstick while the engine was running and said there is very little compression. Heeeelp.

does he mean back presure? oily smoke comming outve hole where dipstick goes.
i know the version in my truck sufers piston failure early patrols sharing engine also sufer fingers crossed its nothing so serious!

Thanks guys

Thanks again guys for your help and support. What more can I say. Hope someday I have some helpful advice to share...Joe.

It's not unusual to suffer from low power at 10000ft altitude, there is only half the oxygen in the air compared to sea level, when we were in Kenya at above 6000ft the vehicles lacked urge, our aircraft (jumbo's) also were down on take off power and could only get off at night when the air was denser and not with a full load, I wouldn't worry about it Joe.
