Today I did some more tinkering with the wires, havent driven the car for a long time now. Removed some of the ground wires and gave another clean. I moved the negative battery cable to a different point on the engine block, and did soem wiggling of wires. I also moved the smaller earth strap, but I forgot to re attach to the engine block. So I spent the next hour wondering why now I had code 43 and 18, no revs, no drive, and fault kept re occuring as opposed to dissappearing for so long.

Discovered the disconnect cable and re connected to a different part of the engine block, started the car and the EML now only stores the code 43 (my current problem) but the fault didnt occur, even though before fitting it the EML was on solid and wouldnt go away.

ffffffflip./

chaps, took this video today of me testing the ground points, what do you think?

ok, fitted second replacement pedal tonight and a second MAF (didnt particularly need a MAF but trying it anyway).

before fitting the pedal, I started the car and sure enough the MiL came on. Fitted the pedal and MAF, tried again, code cleared and didnt return during the short test drive after. Had this before, so im not building my hopes up yet. Again, car felt that much better.

Will see how it goes this week, if all ok, will proceed to fit more of the parts I got from MakeItFit. If the car remains ok, I wont change the ECU yet if there is no need!

fingers crossed........

my pennies worth

hi clivvy iv been following your posts here about your sick car and after watching your video of your lights getting brighter as you rev the engine its a fair bet to say it electrical. Having spent many years fixing motorbikes its a classic symptom usually voltage regulator/alternator or poor earthings or a combination of all. I will have a look at the manual and see what set up the electrics have on these motors, i think the pedal thing missleading you down the wrong path.

fingers crossed for you mate

electrical

voltage regulator/ic as i susupected is internal to your alternator as with most cars there not on bikes, manual says at 1500 rpm there should be no more than 15.5 volts comming out of the alternator any more and its nackerd. Earthings seem to be a big issue maybe run as suggested by some one else additional earthing straps from the battery to the engine and engine to the chassis.

good luck

cheers matey. I did check the voltages, and they seem to check out ok at 13.8 at 2k rpm and rise as appropriate to load etc, and although I have renewed and cleaned all earth straps etc, im adding an extra one this weekend and also changing my negative battery lead also-just to see if it makes a difference.

I'm getting there I think....!
