Was away with the caravan last week, at first I thought it was my driving as haven't towed over the winter but the truck seemed a little sluggish on the flat but when I came to a couple of hills i've towed up before it did seem to struggle loads to the point I had to drop down to forth & was flat out at 55mph:eek::doh where in the past i'very managed ok in fifth. Only thing I can think of is my maf is poss on it's way out (where are people getting their late model maf's from ?), mini filter should be fine as it's been only 10k since it was cleaned only other thing is the breather blow by valve is starting to play up & dumping oil into the induction system as i'very noticed a bit of oil seeping out of the rubber hose from the intercooler to the inlet manifold so will be fitting my old catch can & cleaning out the IC :augie could it be anything else

Bosch or Zexel, and do you have an EGR? Rick

It's a bosch set up as it's a 2005, egr had the vac pipe blocked off just under 3 years ago when I bought it but lately it is a bit slower solo I think & the fuel lines were replaced in Sept/Oct 2015

Funny you should bring this up as we have been away in our tintent twice this year and thought my old y60 was struggling a little. TBF though she is well over due a service, well not done many miles but I don't remember doing a service last year and im pretty certain the fuel filter has seen better days as I nearly had heart failure after the last trips fuel consumption. Average of 16 mpg :eek:

OK your maf could be failing, but just blanking the vac pipe to the EGR is not good enough, the valve itself could well be corroding and leaking, you need to insert a blanking plate, All of the EGR valves I have ever stripped leaked, ie I could blow through them, sadly good Bosch maffs are hard to come by, I have a couple of cheapies and they show just that, so not worth it, Rick

You've answered it yourself mate, you'll be losing power because you're leaking pressure from your intercooler hose, basically your horses are escaping!!!

Replace the pipe if there is a split in it, and check that there are no sharp edges on the jubilee/spring clips that you are using, promise this will fix your issue.

Make sure you bag the I/C inlet or outlet up whilst you are working on it to avoid dropping anything into them  and get the oil mist cleaned with a rag with some petrol or white spirits on so that you will know if it happens again otherwise it's oil on oil!!!

Pulled the IC off today & it looks ok as no signs of oil coming out of the welds or fins but there was plenty of oil inside the hose on the inlet manifold so think the oil has been seeping upwards so will replace the spring clips with hose clips to see if there is any difference but have wrapped the IC neck with some PTFE tape as a temporary fix. Noticed there seems to be oil around the back of the egr from what I can see when looking up from underneath  my mate has just bought a 05 T2 so going to see if I can borrow his maf to see if there is any difference

When mine did that was maf.

Had to go to low 4wd to getup one hill

Hi,
Might be worth checking Main dealer, I got a new Bocsh MAF complete with housing for £59.00 ( £70.55 inc VAT) from my local Nissan main dealer about 12 months ago. I also got the large black rubber sealing washer for I think about £3.50. Paid for the parts over the phone and the parts guy even dropped them in at my house on his way home.
