My 2004 Terrano 2.7 would not start a couple of weeks ago and AA man said problems with glow plug relay working intermittently. Bought new relay and started it up twice since (not been a run though as mainly used for towing) then this morning, a slight "pop" from wing area and it will not start again. Waiting for AA man and expecting him to say that the £57 relay has had it. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be and can I get a relay cheaper than from Nissan? I did have a water leak a few weeks ago with a slow drip running down accelerator pedal. This issue now ok and did not affect car running at the time. Husband wants me to sell it but I wouldn't even think of it.

A pop from the front drivers side wing def sounds relay related to me, I can see if I can source you a relay from James and get you price?

If this is the 2nd relay you have got through I would also maybe look at your plugs to ensure there's not a short causing the relay to go bang etc

Thanks for your reply. AA man just been and sprayed some fast start in the air filter and cracked it up ok. Relay seems ok. Suggests I get new glow plugs as they look like they are the originals. Nissan have serviced it in the past as I bought it new. It has only done 35000 miles and I thought they would have changed the plugs for a major service but appears not. Should I buy the service parts and glow plugs from Milners for a fraction of Nissan prices and get a friend to service it or is it a case that you get what you pay for, eg. Milner's glow plugs under a tenner and Nissan's £38.50 each.

I fitted glow plugs from GSF on our old terrano can't tell you the price but a lot less than 38.50 each been in just shy of a year and been faultless.

Scrap those silly Nissan prices off that's ridiculous!!!!!!!

Get yourself some from Milners they'll last just as long as the Nissan ones

Thanks. Did request you put my name down. I'm going to get all the service parts from Milners including belts and brake pads if they do them. May as well give it a good going over. I will be replacing the tyres as well as they have been on since new. Think they're Michelins. Same are around £160 each at A1. Still decent tread but 10 years old. I can pop up o Milners as driven past but not been in yet. I have no confidence in my local Nissan and find £86 an hour labour a rip off.

Oh god!!!!!!!

You're not still on the Duellers that it came out the factory with??

Have you not heard the stories about them exploding?

When are you planning to put the order through?

I'll make sure I get an updated spreadsheet to Julia before you do otherwise she'll give you the V for Victory when you ask why you've not had your discount :lol

Oh God. Think I will be putting the order in this week. Seeing as the water leak has taken so long to sort out, would be well p..d off if my new windscreen got blown out. I wish I'd have known about this forum before. Although I'm an ageing female and really don't know much about motors, I do really like my Nissan and find all the banter really interesting and informative even though most of it goes over my head.
