Is there any difference between using Rapeseed Oil or Sunflower Oil for Fuel??

Up till now I've only used Farm Foods Rapeseed Veg oil, but last week I took my "Scrap Car" for a 500 mile trip around Devon towing our Carrier Van and although I managed to get refilled with Tesco's Rapeseed Veg oil (3xlitre bottles for £3) Sunflower oil was in more abundance, at same price in 3x litre bottles but I never used it before, so didn't buy it!

By the way, Tesco's in Ilfracombe wouldn't let me have more than 15 x 3 litre bottles! So had to send "The Dragon" in next day, to buy more!!!!!

I've always wondered the same as whenever I go into Tesco I always see the veg cleared out and the Sunflower in abundance

I was told that the 2.7's don't like the Sunflower and it runs lumpy due to the ignition point being different to Rapeseed :nenau, I always try and use Rapeseed if I can purely because I know it works

iv used it loads when on special offer at asda (2x6l bottles for £10) and never had any ill-effects, i also use rapeseed oil and the ktc soya stuff with the e900 in it. i think these old diesel engines will run on anything!

i use ktc without ill effect, its gm modified. diesels ignition point is 240 celcius
veg oils ignition point is 340 celcius. no difference should be felt while running, as long as you get it started :D
as said, old diesels will run on most stuff, try it!

Exactly what I find, get a subtle smell of burning as well

they do! i've had deisel mixed with petrol mixed with kerosene mixed with wvo, and yes all in tank at same time, goes like s**t of a shovel with kerosene in the tank :lol:augie

I find sunflower is beter than KTC soya, but not quite as good as rapeseed when cold. Once the ol gal is warmed up, I think it would run on liposuction fat!

Certainly have no issues on WVO mixed with a splish splash of petrol and diesel, and that oil is mostly soya to start with. Tends to smoke a fair bit on initial start up, but that's why I always reverse park next to one lesser liked managers office window so he gets a fine blast each evening :lol
