whats latest prices as I ran 100% veg oil in my old terrano and going to run veg again soon.

Quality foods 20 litres for 15.99 (79p per litre)

I just out 60 litres in my tank (was nearly on red) yen went to petrol station and could only squeeze 4.5 litres of petrol in (to thin) no more space :lol

So Alex your running veg and petrol see In winter I used to run 50% oil 50% diesel but if I can run more oil and little petrol would be better

Yeah basically I suppose now I'm running about 7% petrol ish

As a very helpful member on here told me, about ten percent petrol with the veg usually covers it winter time.

My understanding is that once the engine gets hot and returns some of the fuel to the tank it helps thin the veg more and then the engine is happier :thumb2

Some days (non temperature dependant) i get a light spluttering for a few minutes on warm up. Initially on choke is fine, once it drops then she splutters occasionally. Doesn't effect the running really.

I got the terrano now running this mix was 35 liters oil 25 liters diesel and 2 liters of petrol running better veg oil cost me £3.75 for 5 liters also got next oil but had cleared tesco out new oil now costing from a local clearance shop £15 for 20 liters but he says he has 70 tubs of 20 liters left that he would do for £14 a tub

That's good! How are you finding the running? :clap

It runs better then on diesel I had drained the other terrano of diesel so that's why it's higher dose of diesel

Yeah I must admit i was shocked how much quieter the engine was running on veg oil :thumb2

I have been thinking and maybe I will try swapping the petrol to diesel again :nenau just thought the mix was a bit thick but I will experiment :thumb2

It's a case of carful trial and error of changing the dose a little bit at a time until you get the best possible running with it. My ford transit throu summer ran 100% veg oil and winter it ran about 80% oil and 20% diesel

Hi yes worked out it will give 6 or 7 months of running with it

It was a shop in shirebrook it was a job lot he got in he has some 20 liter tins left but there £15 a drum

diesel mainly with a little svo occasionaly.

wvo.
now then.
whats changed? Ii clean the windows at my local chippy and he tells me people used to buy his waste oil from him.
now he has to pay them to take it away?
is it becoming less popular due to the ball ache of filtering?

Straight WVO with a dash of 2EHN cetane boost at the moment. However despite it being the first day of British summer time, the unseasonably cold weather means I will add 10% petrol if the chill continues.

Very new to the Terrano but have run Mercedes engines on veg for nearly 20 years. From past experience sunflower oil was always the best closely followed by oil seed rape. Soya oil generally best avoided as could give very poor performance, results unreliable.

If the WVO is very thick due to over use then petrol or diesel added to assist in filtering. The WVO is always left for a number of weeks before the clear oil being poured off the sediment. This is then filtered through an ASDA brand J-cloth. One layer will filter down to below 10 microns, two layers to near 5 microns.
