Just tryed veg for first time today :D

20L of finest rape seed oil from Asian supermarket for £21.50, slapped it in an empty tank

Drives spot on, no difference ! £1.07 per lite is pretty sound in my option and was noticeable on gauge compaired to £20 pump fuel

What additives/amounts should I add if any ?

at least 20% diesel or 5% petrol in winter as when it gets cold it will wax up if 100%:thumbs well done took you long enough:lol

Welcome to the veggie burners club

Well, 5% petrol is gonna be cheaper, but any ill effects from putting the petrol in ?

Don't have a Farm Foods near us in Malvern, so while I'm visiting my son in Kings Lynn I asked if there was a Farm Foods nearby.
Turned out, there was one just 2 minutes away, so went round and bought 4x 10 litre bottles of Rapeseed Oil at £9.95 each!
They had loads, but only had room in Mav for 4x, next time I'll leave "The Dragon" and dogs at home!
OR, I suppose I could find a FF closer!

I won't put the Veg oil in Mav until I get home as I want to see what my MPG is when I get back home.

Will be putting some in mine today when my niece fetches it,she works at farmfoods and its about £10 for 10 litres. Way i see it every time a gallon of that goes in the tank it saving me £2 and they soon add up to a few Quid in my pocket instead of Mr Cameron's :lol

Just put 40 ltr of KTC veg in from bookers at £35.98

Or £17.99 for 20L

that's epic tbh :D

How's it going with the Petrol/Veg mix.? Whats the best ratio? I just poured it in 100% when it was warmer, I been putting Derv in since it got cooler. Wouldn't mind going back on Veg but don't like the idea of putting Petrol in a Diesel

I put 40ltr Veggie, 20ltr Diesel & 3ltr petrol and Mav runs fine.
Still have to turn glow plugs on/off a few times when its -0 degrees to get her started, but she runs fine, no problems after the first 400 miles.
I've got another 50 ltr veggie to put in later today along with a bit diesel and petrol. Less diesel more profit!

Around freezing say 1 degrees and lower I've put 3 litres petrol in to 20 of veg

over that say 6-8 degrees and rising I put 2 or 1 litres in of petrol

15 degrees none at all

But I put diesel in every now and again anyway

What does Petrol do then? 10% Petrol = 1L/10Lveg or 2L/20Lveg
I think I will have a go at that, but need more info, What if it comes cold and snowy again like -5, Will it freeze/thicken up at 10% Petrol mix?
I think I'll do my own test with a bottle, but if someone has done it already it'll save me a job.

I shall put 10 ltr Diesel, with the 3 ltr petrol the tank should be up to the brim.

50L SVO + 10L Derv + 3L Petrol. Have I got that right?
Would it not do any good to just use Petrol and do without the Diesel,
say 6-7ltrs?

Petrol thins it so it pulls through lines better and burns better during the compression ignition event

Veg oil waxes up a lot more than diesel does in the cold

But in Russia etc at temps of like -30 they add petrol to diesel for the same reason
