Fuel banjo filter

Due to exhaust exiting via water expansion bottle I decided to change head gasket. On removal of head found two cracks in the head. With my pockets now lighter and a new cylinder head, on reinstalling I decided to clean fuel bango filter while it was easier, but to my surprise there is no filter in housing or the bolt. See picture, has anyone had the same problem,also can anyone identify the fuel injection pump type.

yes some do some dont, some1 might have got there before u and took it out in two bosch pumps i have had the filter in both as to the type of pump its hard to c in pics but if u have a bosch maf then u have a bosch pump hitich then u have a zexcel pump sorry bout spelling hope that helps:thumbs

from my experience i dont think they had them after about 97 or 98?. unless they have mostly already been taken out! that will be a bosch pump.
that siver part in your pump isnt the top of the spring that holds the banjo filter down is it? im sure you have checked it well - just thought id mention it.

Thanks for that I did have a paperclip and had a careful prod around and there is nothing in there

mine is a 2000 x reg the original pump had 1 and fitted a secondhand pump from a2002 and that had filter too both were inside the bolt :nenau

Ive never seen one that didnt have the filter fitted some are crimped in the banjo bolt some are in the pump i think the ones that dont have them are because they have been removed

thanks thats good to know for future, all the later ones i have had have all been removed!

How can i find out if it should have a filter and can you buy them?
