Just been out and looked at a wiper motor and yes I was right the short arm that fits on the motor is taper splines and yours has been put on incorrectly, you need to remove it set the wiper at the bottom of the screen and re fit it, I am sure this will sort your problem, Rick

Yeah...

That's what I said on the third post....

But hey !

Heh, heh, heh, always nice to beat the old geezers to the punch !

:sly

My experience of this came from the last time (20ish years ago) that I let a main dealer service my car. While it was in their care the wiper arms were swapped for some cruddy ones and they nicked my Bosch blades. Had to threaten to sue them to get it sorted, and then I still had to adjust them myself!

Would have had a look at this today but just been laying on a cold tiled floor in my pants [emoji41]

Just got that knotty pain in the pit of my stomach [emoji37]

Managed to take a look at these today.

The nut holding the linkage to the motor is a pig to get to. Got it undone without problems but couldn't get the linkage off. Tried several sizes of pry bars, screwdrivers etc but no good. Ended up removing the 4 bolts holding the motor in and luckily there was enough wiggle room to allow me to pry the linkage off inside the engine bay.
Straightened the angle of the linkage to the wiper arm linkage and hey presto.
Thanks for the input guys.
What shall we do next? :naughty

You're welcome, it's nice to be able to repay some of the wealth of advice and encouragement that everyone else has given me.

Looks like you got it spot on.:thumb2

The problem with mine was that someone had replaced the motor and also removed the wiper arms so put the whole system out of alignment.

The way I realigned it is to remove the wiper arms, remover the plastic trim under the windscreen and remove the metal cover plate above the motor.

Remove the arm from the motor (as mentioned you may have to remove the 4 bolts holding the motor to the bulk head in order to free the arm )

turn on the wipers to the lowest speed and listen for when the motor stops.

Turn off the ignition and replace the arm back onto the motor taking care not to drop the nut into the heater blower . Nip up the nut hand tight and move the motor arm accurately to the 9 o clock position:thumb2. This is the park position where the wiper arms are at the furthest downward part of the motion. Tighten the nut.

If you haven’t got the 9 o clock position right, the wipers will flick the opposite way before they travel.:doh

Temporary attach the near side wiper in the park position and tighten. Turn on the ignition and operate the wiper on slow speed to see if you have got the 9 o clock park position correct. If not you will have to go back to the start and re adjust.:(

A bit of perseverance and it will come.

Oh yes - The reason why I mention about turning off the ignition is to prevent myself inadvertently leaving the wiper control on slow intermittent and chopping my fingers off whilst trying to adjust the motor arm in a confined space. :doh
