Just bought a secondhand Avenger A-bar, and the bottom brackets appear to mount in place of (or with) the pigtail.

I haven't crawled around to look yet, but is the pigtail held on with nuts and bolts, or just bolts (with captive nuts)? If it's got loose nuts, how easy are they to get to (it's a '98 3 door Maverick GLS). And has anyone got another pair kicking around for the nearside lower mount?

And the upper mounts appear to be simple flat 'straps' that may or may not fix somewhere between the bumper and grille. Are there holes already in existence, or do I need to drill some new ones?

Thanks in advance,
Dale

HI, pig tail held on by 2 bolts, at the other side 2 more holes with bolts in them. If you need longer bolts take one out and take it with you because the thread is a little unusual. so I was told when I got mine from the agricultural engineers... regards..bri

B*gg*r

No bolts in my 'spare holes'... :(

Anyone got any spares? Are they a metric thread?

fitting a bar

my a bar mounts in the two recovery holes on each side of the chassis rail and into the steel inner of the front bumper(which you have to drill).
if you pm me the length of the bolts you need i will have a look what i have got as i'm breaking a terrano and have got a load of nuts and bolts for one in the shed.

They are metric fine M12 or M14 x 1.25 IIRC
I think they are m12 fine, in fact the same thread as the wife's picasso's wheel bolts....
I just tried one one day, they looked the same... But take care remember the aeroplane in Brum a few years ago, they fitted the wrong bolts and the windows blew out together with the pilot...
