oh yes, forgot about Toolbox lol, will pm him now.

as for connection, will have a look, it could be that I can trace it all the way back to wherever it starts and replace perhaps?

ideally i need to go to a scrappys that has a maveick, and get these bits and connectors.

ok, got info from Toolbox, couldnt find the crankshaft position sensor! found a blank plug whereit shows the connector in the manual, but nothing from that to anywhere. mines a 2.7td with intercooler, Toolbox mentioned on the bell housing, but I cant se it!

I cant change my own fuel filter-I cant get the damn thing off even with the correct tool, this to me suggests a problem, if only at least its on too tight! so will dop it into garage to have it done.

car is starting now, so thats sorted, but still have odd running problem, i.e. at idle, its either missing a beat or revving up, not sure how to describe it, but the revs dont drop, they go up. it isnt doing it as badly now, but you can tell its doing it ever so slightly, plus yesterday after running th ecar at idel for a good 20 mins or so, it just stalled, what could cause that?

I read somewhere that negative pressure can be a problem? I think i read to check the fuel filler cap, is there supposed to be a pressure release hole? i do have a tiny hole that was filled with crud, i tried to clear it a bit but nly revealed a tiny gap...

managed to get a very short drive round the back, it was ok, but i am not confident on a long drive (due to the random stalling yesterday). I am going to book into the garage soon for the fuel filter doing, i just cant get it off myself its too tight, then i can see how it runs from there. i re pulled codes, still 47 crankshaft position sensor, but i cant find it!!! help, where is it?!

On some early tdi engine the cps is located in the timing cover, to the right, I think you need to look from below, sorry I have never seen one, so cant be more precise.

Yes that is the EGR system and solenoids

hmm, IN the timing cover...i assume not timing belt, but will have another look.

if that is the egr, i might trace that and unplug it, see if it makes a difference...

Thanks Jeremy, getting there...
