Hi guys, my project truck the 1999 2.7 auto is throwing up an error cade 18 “fuel quantity adjuster/position sensor”

I’m struggling at the moment as I’m not able to do anything yet, might even have an hernia now too where I had the operation.

My son has cleared fault code again and done some diggin online where he seems to think people advise fuel filter and injector cleaner.

Also it appears the voltage regulator is on it’s way out on the alternator too as the dash lights have a flicker especially on tickover. Have disconnected the split charge and second battery but this hasn’t resolved it.

Advice appreciated because at the moment I’m in so much pain I can’t think straight.

Cheers

Don't forget the IP internal pressure regulator which consists of a spring and ball bearing affair.
If the spring becomes weak the internal pressure in the IP will fall resulting in insufficient hydraulic pressure to move the control sleeve quickly enough to satisfy the position feedback to the ECU.
You can test this by partially restricting the return fuel line from the IP back to the tank, effectively raising the internal pressure in the IP.

This is where the mini filter in the pump can have a positive effect, Rick

Here's a picture of the possible offending item in an old thread, more info in this thread: http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11236&highlight=spring+bosch&page=3

Does yours have a battery light ? If not flicker might be alternator / rectifier fault.
If you have converted dash bulbs to LED might be low voltage causing flicker or some AC output. On our old r3mR I had flicker with ignition light then after a few days the battery light came on?
