Hi Guys can anyone help with my problem My Pathfinder 2005 SVE, The issue is that the ESP light doesn't come. Firstly I've had it on the Computer and its come up with a pressure sensor fault. I've had a new sensor fitted and the light still doesn't come on. !! Also is it a MOT fail if it doesn't light up
Also the clocks have been out and its a sealed unit so the bulb cant be removed. Any Ideas Guys

Regards Simon

ESP light

If its like most ESP lights it only comes on when you have the ignition on thats the bulb and system check.
It should only come on when driving if there is a fault or you are skidding.
My understanding is that ts only an MoT fail if thelight stays on during the test.
Unless you have it tested at a Nissan Dealer most MoT stations are not in a position to know if you vehicle has ESP fitted.

Re ESP

Thanks for the reply. on the Pathfinder you have a switch to select the ESP on or off (switch is a push button type with no light on ) So when you select the ESP to be on a light indication comes on in the top right corner of the clocks.
So as it is I don't know if its on or off !! working or not !!

Well mot stations are not allowed to tamper, so leave it alone as far as they know its on... Or off :nenau :augie

On Mercs the ESP mode reverts to on when you remove the key or turn off the ignition and the switch only illuminates when its off. These switches have an internal bulb that fail with time and you need to replace the switch. On later Mercs the switch is on the dash user settings and if its off a warning triangle appears on the dash. Again when you remove the key it revers to on automatically.
Has your Pathfinder ESP light ever worked since you have owned the vehicle?
On Mercs and Smart cars most ESP issues tend to be related to wheel sensor faults on the ABS system or in the case of Smart cars to the brake lamp switch. Dunno if this helps.

Yeah come to think of it the light is surely just a warning saying "hey careful now, traction control is off"

we have a relative who has a Pathfinder 08 model and they can select the switch to come on and the light stops on the clock-dash And the handbook relates to this as well !!
