Hi all I had just finished a 70 mile motorway trip when I Noticed my EML had come on. The truck seamed to run ok during the trip and it ran throughout the day and on the return journey. typical as the MOT is due this month. Started it today and it idles ok. rev it to about 2000 rpm and it has a small hiccup and then runs smooth from about 3000 rpm.

Any ideas where to look first before I commit to a garage?:nenau

Take a look at the fault reading how to document in the download section. Not sure you might eve be able to clear the light too.

yep first thing to do is read the code, all in the manuals, Rick

Right tried the paper clip in the grey block under the dash to get the fault code but no avail. When the ignition was turned on the EML just stayed light permanently (No Flashing). Don't know if I'm doing it correctly? bottom First and last pin in the block.

Reading the manual it says it could be water in the fuel filter so I tried to drain but nothing there either. Starting to think the garage will be getting my business:eek:

problem is there are two methods of reading the codes depending on what year and model you have, one is bridge and hold, read the flashes then break clears the memory, the the other is bridge for a few seconds then remove, count the flashes then bridge again to clear, if you have the first type and did not hold then you will have cleared the codes, but if the fault remains then the codes will come back after a drive, Rick

Thanks Rick, Tried both methods still no luck (1998 model) retreaving the code. EML on permanent. I even blew a fuse trying :doh

Are you sure you are bridging pins 6 & 7 if you hold the connector so the square edge is on your left then it is the bottom two left hand pins, pretty sure on a 98 it is bridge and hold, Rick

Rick is correct as usual, Turn ignition on position 2, bridge 6 & 7 remove then bridge again & hold
