Upgraded the candle in the work light to 100 watt LED bulb.
Can actually see behind me when I reverse now:thumb2

I love a good work light!

I feel most reverse lights are hopeless! I had made the back of my Patrol symmetrical, ie two reverse lights and two fog lights... But it's still a pitiful amount of light!

I also use my work lights to reverse!

Both my Terranos had LED work lights mounted on the roof which made reversing a breeze, someone else will be benefiting from my work on the 3 litre by now.
At the moment Rustics Mav is still standard reverse lights which as you know is poor. I have been tempted to try and fit something but I want to try and keep that standard if I can.
My VW van is poor reverse lights, probably worse than Terrano but with reverse sensors and display it is reasonable but I don’t like putting too much trust in them so thinking about options for both vehicles.

I have fitted Led bulbs to my Patrol they are brilliant, I also put Led bulbs in the cabin lights but both have failed after less than a year, Rick

I had a batch of cheap sidelight bulbs that kept flickering, mpgs gave me a bollocking second, thrid and fourth time they saw me driving with it :lol

I toyed with putting led bulbs in the converted brake lights but have seen some that have a pinkish glow to them.
The lower ones in the bumper are little led units but cheap as chips to replace when they go.

Yes I found the upper brake lights to be pink too, I have a pair of red led brake light bulbs so have thought about sticking those in but that’s as far as it got :doh

Elty, how did you mount your rear work light? Any photos please :thumbs

Cable runs down the back, behind the bumper and through a grommet into the rear quarter.

So I made a start yesterday looking at rearranging a few bits in the engine bay ready for the second battery install.
The obvious choice would be the front inner wing but the pipework for the snorkel and air con pipework make this a no go.
I then remember reading a thread on here where the battery was located behind the original starter battery and with the relocation of a couple of things seems the most viable option.
First part to relocate was the coolant expansion tank.
Luckily I had the one from the Maverick I broke which is a better shape and size for the front passenger side inner wing.

Job for this morning is to fabricate a mounting bracket as at the moment its held in with a few zip ties.

Power steering reservoir has got to be moved back and a new mounting bracket fabricated to house it.

The last thing to move is the small tank for the windscreen washer bottle.

At first I thought of buying a universal one and fitting that over on the passenger side but it turns out the small filler tank can be removed from the main tank so I will design a new filler for it and leave it tucked away under the drivers side inner wing.

This is sounding great, wish I had thought about it with my 3 litre truck but that’s past history now.

Cheers Jim :thumb2
Shame my pics are on their side though :lol

Looking good I’ve got loads of power steering hose if you need it

And there’s these just to help the build along
