Adjuster bolt on the idler pully sheared off:doh
Luckily i had a spare on the old engine in shed.
Took that off and gave it a good soaking in penetrating oil and made sure the adjuster bolt was nice and free.
Now came the fun part of removing the assembly from the terrano.
Very limited access so a few choice words and skinned knuckles followed :(

Wasn't as bad a job as i first thought and soon had the new one in place:thumb2
Now i just need to get it checked and re gassed.
Got a local mobile guy who will do it for £60:thumb2

Hopefully he will be able to get out today or tomorrow so i can look forward to some nice cool temperatures when driving

Noticed the other week while i was doing a bit of laning that the new rear tyres iv'e recently replaced were catching when flexing.
Got out the big ramps for a bit of urban flexing :lol

Had to do a bit of remedial work on the rear bumper.
Had to move it back, trim the edge and make a new mounting bracket as it has sheared off.

Still not much room on full flex but it's clearing now, just so fingers crossed it will be enough.

Cheers guys :thumb2
They are a very similar pattern to the Toyo's that Banshee and T Doug have recently bought.
Been running the Nankang mud stars for years and very pleased with them.
Not an overly aggressive tryre and have served me well.
These are the newer FT9 mud terrain which have slightly bigger shoulder lugs.

Made a start on repairing the cracked chassis.
After a good thorough inspection the chassis is still in decent condition for the most part so i decided to crack on with the repairs.
First job was to strip off the rear suspension and drop the diff out of the way.
Decided to start on the passenger side as that was a straightforward repair.
Slackened off the body mounts and rear bumper so i could line the chassis back up.
Luckily it was still intact on the bottom of the chassis so was just a case of jacking the rear of the chassis to push it back into place.

I clamped it together and put a run of weld down the crack to hold it in place.
I then cut out the rotton metal and set about making some repair plates.

Not the nearest welding but got lots of heat and penetration into it.

While cleaning up the chassis i noticed that the chassis was thinning around the front cross tube so i hammered a length of 5mm walled tube into the tube as far as i could and added a repair plate for piece of mind.

Nice work Elty. Another repair that'll outlast the oil reserves:lol

Moved onto the drivers side this afternoon.
Got the chassis lined back up and a plate welded in to hold it in place.

Also noticed that the two rear body mounts have been damaged with the chassis moving so a bit more work needed to get this side sorted.

Had a couple of hours this afternoon cutting out rotten steel and welding in some new plates.
