Right, its happened twice this morning, I have captured a video of it but typically my phone youtube app is faulty... :doh

I will describe symptoms again, started car from cold, let it warm for 1/2 mins drove out onto main road quite gently, and again same spot throttle is non responsive (like power has gone)

I pulled into layby and engine is purring away as it always does, foot on accelerator the max RPM was something like 1200 still purring away gently.
immediately turn off and on again with no delay and BOOM the revs are back as per normal.

A40 into london guess what... does it again, so I bank it onto the pavement (no hard sholder) and same again key off and on again and continue my journey :doh

No engine lights or warning lights are present...

Then the next step is to check for stored DTC's, if there are none then you need to check for actual overboost (measure boost pressure) or you have a faulty MAF.

How do you measure boost?

I am thinking actually things I have done recently...

removed air filter for and swapped for silly filter.

and whilst I was doing that I actually disconnected the MAF.

I did NOT touch anything but still disconnected... I wonder

Take it to someone with correct fault reader and get it read. Surely itll record events that you can read. Not sure but i think newer trucks have the odb11 system or what ever they call it.

I think I have found my problem....:doh

If your very luck it may have only destroyed the maf. Fish filter is best left in your pond

I think the term is...
If it ain't broke don't fix it.:nenau

Didn't a few members warn you against using that foam, as it was too coarse and might allow things through.:doh

This reminds me of Ryan, modding the vehicle so much that in the end he had to scrap it, as it wouldn't start.
He left the forum due to the embarrassment, no nothing to do with the Terrano...
He bought a Volvo...:doh

:lol:lol:lol

Yes you have probably sand blasted the Maf, and hopefully most of the grit has blown through the engine...:augie

I would think that removing the front bumper has allowed grit to be thrown forward, and then sucked into the air intake under the front wing, as the streamlining and the air flow has been changed.
I think a member warned of this as a possibility.:nenau

Normally the air flow would divert any dust and grit away from this area. So the air intake would suck cleanish air.
The standard air filter is designed to stop the finer dust and sand, I have never found any particles bigger than dust in my air filter canister, so clearly the bigger stuff is not getting in. Nissan's design clearly works.

Alex, the crying rear washer is a warning mate, you Terry is such a sad vehicle now, you made it look like the ugly duckling and it's just starting to give up on life.
I hope you haven't done to much damage, but those rocks in the filter, don't look good.

Just my opinion but if i wanted to 'mod' a vehicle for offroad use why not start with something about £250 not nice looking 04 plate. Those bumpers you took off sell on ebay for upto £400 seems such a shame to discard them

Im gonna test it on the way home and see how I go. I have a new MANN filter put in and have cleaned all the muck away. My air box drain hole was also blocked with muck...

Stupid me for using a silly filter.

I will report later, after work (12) I am hopefully going greenlaning if it allows.

Dont wanna buy another MAF too... :doh

Just noticed you have changed your Avatar pic to the latest version of the car.

Just noticed on your wish list, you intend to change the interior too.:augie

In the words of Sergeant Wilson... " Is that wise ?"
What have you in mind for that?
A couple of park benches?:lol

Lol might have to put defender seats in at this rate

But I just wanted a refabric of seats and refoaming. After sitting in the new jags my terrano seat is like a rock :p

I have just changed my filter, a few bits and bobs on the outside of the filter, but spotless on the inside.
I fit genuine Nissan filters and they do the job :thumbs

Mind, I think they are made by MANN
