My SWB T2 2.4 Extreme came from a friend in 2011 with a long Mot and tax, he had it from 2005 and kept it in good original condition. My memory tells me we ran it until the Tax expired and I just did not get the time to fix a few little faults to sell on so became another member of my transport museum until 2018 when I dragged it off the garden to replace an equally old Ford Fiesta. Finding a Tax refund notification for £70 now tells me my memory is wrong and we bought a diesel Astra SRi as the Terrano running costs were high, the Astra literally halving the monthly fuel bill.

I have no need of a 4x4 vehicle other than to tow a car trailer very occasionally and the desire to do a little offroading at some stage, something I have done very little of in other peoples vehicles. I have grown to like the truck quite a bit other than it's thirst for fuel on the daily commute and it may become a project, I have a V40 T4 that may liberate it's turbo and intercooler that should make the fuel thirst and performance improve.:thumb2

It would be nice and my missus is warming to the idea of a camping weekend somewhere offroad, unfortunately the tyres are not up to offroading as they are old and near the end of their life plus I had a hernia operation last week so need to take it easy for a while. :(

which one? well after 3 terranos and a patrol its all kinda blurred.

having had a rrc in my 20s wanted to get back to 4x4s as was getting
into caravan rallies so wanted more traction, oh and a 4by would mean
could get a bigger tin tent down the line.

mrs a childminder, even before our own kids came along meant wanted
a 7seater, from my green oval days i liked S1 disco, S2 was just coming
out but way out of our price range. mrs liked friends pajero so shogun
was possibility. one of her minding pals had a mav so r2 was joint 2nd
choice and won out, mrs wouldn't entertain side ways facing S1 rear
seats.

well the first t2 led to joining this club even before we found it and led
to friendships and laning trips, social meets and parties/rallies.

the family arrived and a bigger caravan, the first t2 became a y61 which
had its issues but was a hell of a ride too, still missed for the comfort
n space, another 2.7tdi t2 replaced it and was no trouble at all, just like
first one, wish never let the P reg go, sure am not only person that would
like to still own every car ever had. well the 52 plate 2.7 was getting
tired so along came a 3.0 tdi t2 with close to full history which still
rocks. can see it lasting til a late y61 comes along.

Ah no bother mate, let your health get back to 100% first and get some new boots on the machine and we'll see you at another one, there will be plenty this year I can feel it

well better the devil you know, eh?

The trol was a bit to big as only family car but now we have the CMAX can see another
Y61 coming along. Must have a chat with the mechanic/tester on next test to gauge
opinion. He is a big green oval fan but has always been fair to the Nissans.

Can't see not having a proper 4x4 in our life, would have to down size the tintent
considerably if not.

A very embarrassing free recovery - forgot to mention!!

The reason I bought my Mercedes 300TE 4-matic (my first 4x4) was I got stuck when fishing at Mapperley Reservoir near Ilkeston in November 2005 in my Mercedes 250TD Estate.

There was about 2 mm of fresh snow on the ground whilst I was Pike fishing, caught naff all after 4 hours of a freezing morning decide to pack up and go.

Got over the Reservoir Road and my RWD Estate would not pull up the slight incline. I had a tow rope as always in my boot and was towed into the village by a Ssangyong Rexton 2.7 !

Oh the shame of it all a naffing Rexton (MB engined)- never been stuck since !!
