All electrical issues with Terrance are nearly sorted meaning the interior can start to go back in soon

The last issue I have is a little strange. The 3rd fuse from the left on the bottom row of the fusebox in the cab is a 10A fuse labelled Interior Light. All of the interior lights work perfectly even though that fuse appeared to be blown.

I swapped the fuse and the new one popped the minute it was inserted. I upped it to a 20A fuse just quickly as I noticed that with the keys in the ignition and engine off, there was a buzzer sound until the keys were removed from the barrel.

Anyone seen this one before? Or am I on my cable tracing job again :doh I fear this one is going to be a little harder than just replacing a relay to get the alarm horn working again :(

Please discuss :thumb2

My r3mR used to bleep if the key was left in the ignition- it was activated when the drivers door opened . Both our Jeeps have a similar chime.
Not sure why it would blow a 20 amp fuse though - does the horn work okay?

Horn is fine, it pops a 10A but didn't pop the 20A which I only had in a for a few seconds to work out that the chime was for key in the ignition.

Interestingly all the doors were shut at the time so I'll start with checking the functionality of the door switches as I can't remember the last time I saw the open door symbol on the dash :doh

Thanks bud

I wonder if the key alarm is the culprit, try putting the 10 amp fuse in when key is out, if inserting the key and it blows, could point to buzzer fault, Rick

All sorted, I went back to basics and decided to actually inspect the interior light as that's what it was labelled up as and low and behold, removed the light, replaced the fuse and it hasn't popped :thumb2

I've also got my chime back too when the keys are in the ignition :clap

Thanks all

I have a 2003 27tdi lwb I have no chime at all any ideas where to start checking and looking ?

that chime always catches me out as must not do the required combination very often.

sort of related is that if the remote locking fob isnt working then i look the doors not
with the key but with the lever on inside of door, ie next to the open the door lever.

so if key in ignition and flick the lock button, it jumps back to unlocked atleast trying
to stop me locking keys in car....

use said button as if lock with key then alarm goes off when next use keys to unlock.

Exactly the same issue i had with the boot light.
When a bulb was put in and the curcuit formed it would blow the fuse.
