3mm bally hell what you making? really not necessary and OTT, and you may struggle to get it in as well, Ali will not burn through even if it was paper thin, what you end up with is an 18 inch long pipe joined to the exhaust that will be blanked = no exhaust gas flow =no heat other than ambient so very thin tin can is plenty good enough and cut with good pair scissors, Rick

sorry Rick im a bit thick, but if the pipe is still connected, then exhaust gases must be hitting the plate? or do you fit two plates?

look at it this way, hot tap in your house connected to the hot water but is it hot when the tap has been off for a few hours, no, it only gets hot when water is flowing, tap off = same as blanking plate, if the pipe connecting to the EGR had been only an inch from the exhaust then different scenario but 18 inches plus = still gas that does nothing, Rick

TBH I think there will still be some heat at the EGR blank:augie but no where near as hot as no hot exhaust gas flowing through the pipe

Nop no heat at all other than ambient, all the heated gas will go past the EGR junction and as long as there is no flow it will only heat about 50mm up the EGR pipe so no problem at all with the blanking plate, Rick

Oh right thought the heat would have radiated further up the pipe towards the EGR TBH but good to know it doesn't:D

*scribbles in stuff to remember* :bow :lol

plates being cut as I type.

some confusion for them over the bolt hole sizes so ill double check that before sending any out..

ok, I got 13 made up apparently (!!) they will be posted tomorrow first class/next day from Sheffield to me. I should have them by Wednesday/Thursday. Not sure I can get any posted back out to anyone who wants them for the weekend though, but I can try if it helps but it'll probably cost more than its worth..!

If you are having these made with holes, means you have to remove the bolts, makes an easy job hard, all you need is a piece of shim that just fits between the bolts only around 10 thou thick, loosen the bolts and slid it in, retighten bolts job done, I understand there will be a 10 thou gap at ther bolt points but they do not have to be megga tight but even if you do tighten them till the wings meet 10 thou is not enought to distort them too badly, Rick

yup I know but for this initial batch job I've request holes. For mine, ill be trimming off parts either side so I can slide over the bolts. If that works, then ill do the same for the rest. I just want to see how well the job goes either way I do it because its ages since I did my last one on the Maverick.

Bassetts ok?

If they're in Sheffield could help with distribution.

Rick, thanks for words about the pipe, as had crossed my mind too, as it becomes
a dead end full of gases, is it feasible to block it at other end?

ah that's ok dude, they will be posted tomorrow. Unless you're near Eckington (I think). Ill get one sent down to you though, Ill just need folk to PM me their address (though ideally I want to do mine first at the weekend to ensure everything fits ok):thumbs

Ha! I don't really know Sheffers too well. Anyhoo, I'll just post one to you it'll be less FAFF.

Short answer, NO, Rick

ok so the plates arrived today! Just need to check the fitment, test my theory for the slot idea and fit one!

got 15

I'd certainly be up for buying one as I always blank every motor I have had and my newer terrano needs to be done.

Have you cut these so they slide in to save faffing?
