i was looking at the site pictures the other day and it looks to me at one time someone organised a big meeting with overnight stay at some site where people could meet each other wether interested in off roading, green laning or just cause u got a nissan.:thumbs:clap:clap

i was wondering it someone would be interested in doing this again in the east midlands area, as i would love to come

i just dont have the know how to sort it myself:doh so i just thought i would push the ball and poke the fire and see what happens

there have been a couple of annual meets since i have been a member.never made one yet but if it wasnt too far away i would consisder coming.

we had national meets in 2004/5/6 t wicksteed aprk near kettering.

in 2007 was held even nearer to plank's neck of woods dudley way,
some where on severn think near kiddeminster.

in past theres also been a get together in in spalding for flower show.
some of the organisers are still with us, though to be fair found they
did all the work time after time.

loads would say at this stage oh we'll come and do this or that to
help then nearer time drop out, i fear sometimes the events were
more complicated than they needed to be and drove up costs which
were lost further by cancelations.

shame, they were good fun, but if kept more informal could work again
like the laning days do.

Pick a camping/caravan site and then let the members book themselves on :nenau

No chew for the initiator (as opposed to being an organiser) :thumb2

Ive been heading off for a couple but family illness and then work (had to work a bloody weekend!!!!)interfered with each of them.

The missus and I go all over the place with the caravan so we would be interested din the future :thumb2

Clumber Park would be a good idea, about 20 mins from me lol

East Midlands Rallie

What about a mini meet in the spring .
If you fancy Clumber Park.(google clumber park for location and amenity's)
they have a caravan site so members could stay over night.
or if near enough travel on the day.
there is a large Sunday market just up the road. which some of us went to a few years ago. then had lunch at local pub.
there are children's fun parks near by.
if you want to do some easy green lanes there are quite a lot around the area.
I will run the lanes trips for anyone wanting to have a go.
if you dont want to risk scratching your own trucks then I am sure we will be able to find some spare seats.
Although you may have to ride in a Disco.lol.

Sounds great like the idea of spring as if it works we can have another later in year
Any more ideas

many moons ago had a meet near clumber one sunday,

theres a mc'ds as i recall, or services near by then went
round the giant sunday market, retail therapy for the ladies!

thorseby is where market is.

i dont want to put a downer on things but i am one of the people that organised the rallys year after year we had some good ones but you organize it all and the they start dropping out then your left with 3 or 4 then it starts getting hard work so like dave d says choose somewhere let others book them selves in clumber park area would be good place then you could have a laning day i think that is one of the areas where our last rallys lost it a bit

I agree with tubbs, and daved, but i have o add the weather spoils a lot of things lately. In past rallies it has been so bad the laes have all been TRO ed to save errosion and it has just teemend down. If you are all booked seperately the weather ruins the 'rally' feeling.

There is a good little rally site in Bobbington South Staffs, oppoiste Wolverhampton Buisness airport, the owner has converted a huge old victorian greenhouse into a meeting room for the use of rallies, that way even if it rains you can still have a get together :thumbs

East Midlands Rallie

I am just putting clumber park up as a meeting point for a local meet and greet, but if others from further away want to come then there is a caravan site.
as regards the weather ,yep it tends to rain a BIT.lol
If it does rain a bit or a lot, regarding the green lanes there are enough un damaging cinder /stone tracks for us to have a little drive any thing between 1 and 4 hours.
mc D is only 2 miles down the road.
The major oak visitor centre (home of Robin Hood) is only just down the road .
at Edwinstowe.

im with dave tt2 and tubs.

find a site that takes caravans and us poor folk who might just want a gas stove and and a tin or 8 at very little expence

im sure if we can just turn up with a tent some tins and something in the boot we can spit roast:naughty:naughty:naughty...... team wales will be there in a flash.

dont need nothing posh, we aint fussy

sounds like a plan Ian, i think the earlier a place and date is decided then people can start to plan time off.:thumbs

does this mean u will be opening a new thread in the AREA forum and if so which one east mids or peak district:nenau

also to tubbs i know what u saying about peoples commitment as i have organised things b4 a work get 30 names and 4 days b4 event u lucky if u got 5 left, thats why i think keep it simples and if any cost involved its done on a indervidual basis

Stuff Mc D's my mum works at the Green Cafe on the same Roundabout as Mc D's - we could go there for a big fat fry up lol!!

Yeah its the Ollerton / A614 roundabout, turn towards Worksop and cafe is off the road on the right, fairly big wooden hut type cafe with 2 MASSIVE laybys - we could even meet there or something depending on what the plan is
