Well, the extra miles per gallon are a fact :augie
Never been so efficient as it is now.

Planning refit the old shroud this weekend and maybe do some small stuff.
We are also building a new horse stable so I'm affraid to put some time in there as well this weekend.

Today I changed the towbar socket, well it ddn't sort out the still nog working foglight on the truck but I think it was about time..

Somebody gave the tip to change the socket and see if it would sort things out.
At least it is another piece of the puzzle tried, so next up will be the wiring itself :augie

Typical towbar socket, pack the terminals with grease and that’ll stop that kind of problem.
Behind the UK passenger side (Left) rear lamp unit you should find a multiplug for the whole rear wiring loom. Check that multiplug but be aware it also connects the fuel tank sender unit too.

Assuming the fuse is good I would put money on it being the wiring or the actual bulb holder itself.
I completely re wired my old standard back light units as the cable was that brittle and corroded.

I've replaced the blue relais under the dashboard and replaced the bulb itself.
Light went out when I did a check on the foglights on the trailer and the light on the truck itself went on as well.
Since that both truck or trailer foglights are not working any more.

Went out this morning and when I came back home the sun was shining on the driveway so I said to myself this was the time to check the foglight again...
Well, got the left unit out and found the connectors and everything covered in mud. Cleaned them out and deceided this wasn't the job for the moment.

Got some yellow city lights (don't know how you guys call the small lights in front?) this week since one of them didn't work any more and I already planned to swap them out with yellow ones since all my front lights are yellow (except for the ones on top of the bumper :augie )

The old white one:

New and yellow:

Does go nice with the yellow head bulbs so I am a happy camper

And then all went wrong...I told myself to keep my hands of the front shock absorbers for today, so walked around in the shed and you guessed it.
Found them over there, opened the doors and parked the truck inside :nenau

Well, the old one came out easily:

Made a little room for the bottom of the new absorber by tapping the "holder" with a piece of metal and a big hammer.
With that done, placing the new one was an easy job:

After the passenger side was done I went on with the drivers side and 40 minutes after I've started the truck was back on both wheels and everything left were 2 old shockers that couldn't be moved by hand like I can with the new ones.

Got the truck out again and made a small testdrive and it feels way more comfortable now :clap
Learningpoint for me is that she does lean a bit more in the corners now :lol

Later this year I will replace the rear ones as well and she should be driving like a "new car" again.

Also received a small panel earlier this week.
When it came I've already placed the stickers on the right place:

First I want to replace the radiator with a new one since the garage that placed this one made some damage on it a couple of years ago.
After that I want to put the switch wire of the electrical fan to the panel as well so I can control the fan if I feel te need to.
The most right switch will be empty I'm guessing, so big chance that I will put the mirror control to that one.

These are the Anschler ones that were posted in the Terrano tread with the 90% discount at Euro carparts.

Juts got 5 sets for £30 :augie :naughty

Time for a sudden update...

Last thursday the Terrano was up for MOT again and.....she failed :doh
Some small repairs, one bigger one and rust again.
Couple of months ago she got welded and everything was okay and now the next weakest spot is starting to tear apart again.

Got home a little fed up and did a good talk with the misses and we made a kind of sudden decision about the future with our cars.
After talking about some options for about an hour we both suggested it was time for the Terrano to find a new owner.
I really love the truck, but this is the 3rd time it needs welding, this year a couple of things will come as well and with that in mind it was time to take a look at autotrader/autoscout, etc to see what there is to buy.

I did this search a couple of times last month, not with the idea of replacing the truck, but just a bit curiousity so a quick check was enough to see what's on the market right now.

My shortlist was kinda short:

Toyota Land Cruiser
Mitsubishi Pajero (or Shogun in the UK) 3.2 Di-D (not the sport version)
Nissan Pathfinder, but with the problems with the Nevara and being it on the same platform it was a little sketchy.
Land Rover Discovery, love them to bits, but I don't want to be repairing it every week :augie

So in serious the Land Cruiser, they are a little more expensive then the Pajero and streching the budget up it was still in favor with the last one and there was one that got my attention.
A call was made and last saturday we checked out the car.

Big difference with the Terrano, were the Terrano has a more classic feeling the Pajero feels more modern, way heavier and has a bit more luxiry to give.
You really feel the weight while driving, you need yo get used to it, the Terrano feels like a light weight compaired.

And wel...long story short, I did like the car I was looking at so after a love story of 3 years the Terrano will be leaving us :(

Replacing it was hard to find the right truck, just because the Terrano is great in everything!
And yes I will gonna miss it, but I'm hoping the replacer will do the job as good as I'm used to now.

After some small things are done on the Pajero I will pick it up saterday or a little earlier.

So what is it?

In text:
Short wheelbase 2007 Pajero 3.2 Di-D

It has:
A 5 speed automatic gearbox
Cruise control
Climate control
BIG stereo (as standard in it's trim)
Reversing cam
Build in navigation

Some other small options that can make life a little easier.

Like the Terrano this is a commercial. Only they made it a commercial later in it's life so no high roof this time.

And yes it feels strange to have the Terrano go, just did some work on it again but it feels like the right one to make.

Only thing I'm hoping for that this isn't going to be a common sight

Ounce I have the truck and did some more miles on it I will make a topic in the right part of the forum. I won't be leaving you guys :)

Didn't see it coming as well, but it is really going to happen.
This evening she gets a ride to a garage that sold her in 2010, so not a unkown adress

Out of interest what did you get for the Terrano?

I'd have come and fetched that!!!!

I've got 2 grand for the old lady.
Not much, but with in mind that she has no MOT and a fair bit of work I could cope with it.

Stripping her down today, so if you want to I've got at least the upgraded intercooler for sale :augie

Other parts are for example the LED driving lights, but those will go on the Pajero.

That's not a bad price at all mate for the age and especially if it needs welding too!!!

How much you after for the intercooler?

My thoughts as well.

I'm thinking around 90 pounds for the intercooler. Ex shipping.
Only used it for 9 months and that is half the price I've paid for it.
