Time for a sudden update...
Last thursday the Terrano was up for MOT again and.....she failed :doh
Some small repairs, one bigger one and rust again.
Couple of months ago she got welded and everything was okay and now the next weakest spot is starting to tear apart again.
Got home a little fed up and did a good talk with the misses and we made a kind of sudden decision about the future with our cars.
After talking about some options for about an hour we both suggested it was time for the Terrano to find a new owner.
I really love the truck, but this is the 3rd time it needs welding, this year a couple of things will come as well and with that in mind it was time to take a look at autotrader/autoscout, etc to see what there is to buy.
I did this search a couple of times last month, not with the idea of replacing the truck, but just a bit curiousity so a quick check was enough to see what's on the market right now.
My shortlist was kinda short:
Toyota Land Cruiser
Mitsubishi Pajero (or Shogun in the UK) 3.2 Di-D (not the sport version)
Nissan Pathfinder, but with the problems with the Nevara and being it on the same platform it was a little sketchy.
Land Rover Discovery, love them to bits, but I don't want to be repairing it every week :augie
So in serious the Land Cruiser, they are a little more expensive then the Pajero and streching the budget up it was still in favor with the last one and there was one that got my attention.
A call was made and last saturday we checked out the car.
Big difference with the Terrano, were the Terrano has a more classic feeling the Pajero feels more modern, way heavier and has a bit more luxiry to give.
You really feel the weight while driving, you need yo get used to it, the Terrano feels like a light weight compaired.
And wel...long story short, I did like the car I was looking at so after a love story of 3 years the Terrano will be leaving us
Replacing it was hard to find the right truck, just because the Terrano is great in everything!
And yes I will gonna miss it, but I'm hoping the replacer will do the job as good as I'm used to now.
After some small things are done on the Pajero I will pick it up saterday or a little earlier.
So what is it?
In text:
Short wheelbase 2007 Pajero 3.2 Di-D
It has:
A 5 speed automatic gearbox
Cruise control
Climate control
BIG stereo (as standard in it's trim)
Reversing cam
Build in navigation
Some other small options that can make life a little easier.
Like the Terrano this is a commercial. Only they made it a commercial later in it's life so no high roof this time.
And yes it feels strange to have the Terrano go, just did some work on it again but it feels like the right one to make.
Only thing I'm hoping for that this isn't going to be a common sight
Ounce I have the truck and did some more miles on it I will make a topic in the right part of the forum. I won't be leaving you guys
