With the misses out for the weekend I have some nice time to spend on the truck.

After doing the household things I started with the easiest job.
With the new intercooler the aloy cover didn't look that nice any more so yesterday I got some heat resistant paint and tried it out.

Before:

And after 2 layers of paint:

Then it was time to make a little suport so the bracket of the oil catch can will fit.
Don't have any pictures of my selfmade work. Don't have the tools or experience for it so it turned out into something that will work.
What I do have is a picture of the can in place:

When I needed to cut the hoses a little shorter I could see the can is working like it should.
Already some residu in it :)

And then it was time to get the Terrano in the shed and remove the front brakes.
Turned out it was about the right time to give the brakes some attention.
On the drivers side the slider pins were complete solid.
And on the passenger side one of the rubbers around the brake cilinder had a little hole in it. But furter they looked alright.

One of the calipers of:

One cilinder done, other one still needs a clean:

And a caliper in fresh matt black:

Result could have been a little better, but I'm fine with it.
Wasn't the most expensive paint and my preperations were only giving it a really good clean.
And with the wheels back on you can't see it, so it's a nice layer of anti rust protection

Also tried to change some oil..
The transferbox and front diff have their plugs in a layer of oil/WD40 so they come loose.
The gearbox on the other hand did come loose. Don't have a picture with the old oil coming out, but it was solid black.

In with the new:

After this I got the car out again to give it a try.
Brakes feel a little better and the gearbox feels smoother so I'm a happy guy :augie

Want to give the truck a good clean tomorrow and if there is some time left maybe I'll be doing some work on it.
Also had a look on the VNT ajuster. Still have the EGR blanking plate laying around and having a good look on the interwebz how to do the adjusting on the VNT after placing the plate.

Don't get to excited :augie

Affraid next updates will come in slowely.
Best of all after this it feels like I'm at stage 0, so al the things tackled that need to be done to fully enjoy the truck.

Yesterday the Terrano went for an MOT and it didn't pass...
One wheelbaring with to much room and a brakeline with some rust on it.
Bringing it back in next wednesday and things will get sorted.
I don't have the time to do it myself.

After this the Terrano will get new oil and filters and then it's next to some plans.

Time for some update :augie

After the last post the Terrano did pas it's next MOT attempt so we can drive for another year.

In the meantime did some small things.

Since Banshee is bussy chasing burglars I went for the walkingstick rubbers to use as a steering stop:

I've also received a new key, since the original one is wornout.
Only still haven't found the time to bring it to the locksmith so he can cut it and programm a transponder.
Went for a flipkey:

Also during the MOT they searched for some play in the front wheels but couldn't find the source of it.
I also knew of the play and wanted to sort things out.

This small movie shows how bad it was:

Makes you wonder how it did pass on the test...

And after a bit of grinding and hamering the old parts came loose:

I reckon these were the original ones so no bad words about them.

And of course we did fit some new parts back in.
On the picture everything it tightened by hand:

And with everything back in place another small video to show how much of a difference it makes:

The only thing moving in this clip is me :clap

This saturday I will bring the car to a tireshop so all the wheels are perfectly on camber/caster again.
I can already say it makes a BIG difference in how the truck feels!

Sorry about the steering stops mate :(

Those walking stick ends look a way stronger option to be honest anyway!!!!!

I bet they were cheaper too!!!

No worries! :)

Only payed a couple of euro's for these rubbers, so we will see how long they will last.

Good work. Did you replace the whole centrelink/draglink? bar or just the joints

I've also replaced the centrelink because that was the source of the amount of play the front wheels had.

Yesterday the truck decided it's back and was just a bit to heavy so it die something about it....
The joint on the silencer is rotten so we are gonna think about getting a new one or make a straight pope because the sound isn't as loud as I expected.

First we will see if I can remove the flens of the last piece of pipe.

Got the new exhaust on the way. Hoping to receive it coming week so the Terrano should be silent again soon.
Totday I removed the mudflaps, had the idea for a while so wanted tot check it out.
Also got a lot of dirt from it behind and was a little moist as well.
At least for the time being they will be off so everything van dry again.

Got everything I need :)
Only thing could be time, but hoping to have some this weekend.

To bad it didn't fit :doh

This is the old one I had to fit back to the truck

Well after some good tips over here I got the last bits I needed for the exhaust to make it fit.
So sundaymorning I had some time before visitors came and made a run for it.

This time with result! :)

And the best tip I've got:

48358606667_0ca167826f_c.jpg

After some chopping it fits like a dream!
Only thing I'm thinking about is putting on a new end piece as well so the exhaust looks a bit nicer.
The parts I've used are from a brand named Ernst. After some Googling I found that it's a German company and they give a good warranty so we will see what happens with it.

And tonight a put out a little plan I was having some time.
Giving the Hella's on the front some extra color on the glass to match them with all the other yellow lights.

One side done:

And both sides done, I do like the extra bit of contrast it gives them:

And to finish of a package that I picked at the post office today :augie

The misses is always making comments about the standard Nissan horn, so I've got myself a semi horn :D
