With the misses out for the weekend I have some nice time to spend on the truck.
After doing the household things I started with the easiest job.
With the new intercooler the aloy cover didn't look that nice any more so yesterday I got some heat resistant paint and tried it out.
Before:
And after 2 layers of paint:
Then it was time to make a little suport so the bracket of the oil catch can will fit.
Don't have any pictures of my selfmade work. Don't have the tools or experience for it so it turned out into something that will work.
What I do have is a picture of the can in place:
When I needed to cut the hoses a little shorter I could see the can is working like it should.
Already some residu in it
And then it was time to get the Terrano in the shed and remove the front brakes.
Turned out it was about the right time to give the brakes some attention.
On the drivers side the slider pins were complete solid.
And on the passenger side one of the rubbers around the brake cilinder had a little hole in it. But furter they looked alright.
One of the calipers of:
One cilinder done, other one still needs a clean:
And a caliper in fresh matt black:
Result could have been a little better, but I'm fine with it.
Wasn't the most expensive paint and my preperations were only giving it a really good clean.
And with the wheels back on you can't see it, so it's a nice layer of anti rust protection
Also tried to change some oil..
The transferbox and front diff have their plugs in a layer of oil/WD40 so they come loose.
The gearbox on the other hand did come loose. Don't have a picture with the old oil coming out, but it was solid black.
In with the new:
After this I got the car out again to give it a try.
Brakes feel a little better and the gearbox feels smoother so I'm a happy guy :augie
Want to give the truck a good clean tomorrow and if there is some time left maybe I'll be doing some work on it.
Also had a look on the VNT ajuster. Still have the EGR blanking plate laying around and having a good look on the interwebz how to do the adjusting on the VNT after placing the plate.
