Haha I fitted led lights in virtually the same place last weekend too :thumbs

They make a huge difference don’t they. Had them on my project truck for a few years and really missed them on my 3 litre so as the nights are drawing in I decided to get them fitted :thumbs

Yesterday evening I had to do a ride with the trailer with the Focus of my misses, but really missed them when reversing.

Time for a small update since we had some adventures.

The parts of the rear brake on the picture were the backets of the handbrake.
It took the garage some time, but we now have the handbrake working perfectly on both sides and replaced the brake shoes as well.
The last ones are to be expected the ones that came 15 years ago on the car when it left the factory :augie

After this everything looked perfectly fine.
Yes, looked...after 2 weeks of driving I needed to go to an exam for my work and when I came back I found a small puddle underneath my car.
Opened the bonnet and couldn't find the leak and all fluids gave the okay to drive home to take a better look.
When I got home I was to find out the upper radiator hose got a small leak in it, so with the help of the internet and some tape in to keep it from leaking we't got:

After this small fix the car did only have 1 small problem, wich was:

A cracked clutchpedal bracket :doh
In the end it was so big the clutch didn't work any more and after a small search I've got a perfectly almost as new pedal to replace the old one.
And I had some help of my very best neighbour with replacing it. Didn't had much time doing it and I was sick on that day, so he did it for me.
Only thing I did was steering the Terrano when he was pulling it into is own garage:

With the new pedal the clutch feels better then it ever did

Only thing now doing is to replace the H3 bulbs of the Hella's by some leds.
Not to keen on the extra light they are giving. If that doesn't work they might be going for something else.
The lights on the rear are perfect!

After a small coolant leak some time ago the Hella's on the front didn't work any more.
Tried a new relais and some other tricks but nothing happened and also didn't like the original loom to much.
So I got myself a new one from Wowled, got my rear led's also from them and liked the loom way more.

Got some spare time last sunday so out with the bikes and the car into the shed.

The new loom:

Also came with a fancy switch:

Almost an hour later and also changed the bulbs into led's:

We got some light again!

The fancy switch does even come with it's own light:

And from a little distance:

Like this light a lot more, maybe swap them over for something better some day...

After this I've ordered oil to replace it in the transfer box, gear box and front diff.
The rear diff got some new oil last year.
And today I got myself an oil catch can. Had one on my old trackday car and think the Terrano will benefit from it as well.

Next weekend is the weekend I'm gonna give the Focus from the misses some maintenance and fix some minor things so no Terrano time I'm affraid.
Her car does a little over 800 km's a week so it has a little more priority.

Love the spotlights mate, I did the same thing on the Maverick and mounted them in the exact same position but had problems when using them at low speeds as they would flex at the bracket in the plastic and the beams would bounce around which actually gives you a headache if you look at it long enough :doh

I was going to go down the route of a strut brace across the rear of the 2 lights or a support that attaches to the rear of the light casing and then attaches to the truck somehow through the grille? :nenau

Mine only woble a little bit but I know what you mean.
In my head I'm thinking I've seen a solution on a rallycar which could be placed between the lights and the grille.
Gonna give it a throught.

The point with the Hella's is that I quite like the look of them so don't want to swap them for that reason.

In the old days, when I had a full set of Cebies across the front of my Wolseley, I had a set of adjustable Rally Spot light stay bars like these...

They were great, as they operate like a turnbuckle, so make setting the beam up spot on.

Got a little work cut out for me

Couple of days ago I received my oil catch can:

In the background you also see new oil for the gearbox, transferbox and the front diff.
The catch can is one without a breather filter on it because this will give problems with the Dutch MOT.
But still it is a lot better then not having one at all.
Yesterday I also received a repair kit for the front brakes so when I have a day with some time to play around the Terrano will have some attention

When fitting the catchcan I also want to clean some parts and we will see what happens with the can fitted.
It also came with some clear hose, I will change that into a black silicone one.

And last but not least some headlight foil came, the idea behind that is the Hella's can use some protection.

Very small update, came down some led lights last week and after thinking it for some while I've deceided to order them:

With family over got some little time to install them yesterday and got some new windscreenwipers as well :lol
They came with caps to give them the color you want, so I got them yellow of course.
Picture with them working will come of course, but its pissing rain right now and will keep doing that al day long...

Tomorrow when I get off to work I can see how well they brighten things up.

unfortunately no bigger update yet...
Still waiting for my new intercooler to come, hoping it will arrive next week.

Later this month I also have a weekend without the misses so making plans to do some work on the Terrano then.
Also got an EGR blocking plate, but not sure when it will be installed.
Having some doubts still if I want to do an adjustment to the VNT screw or install a dawes spring.
Read some stories on the internet and the VNT adjustment seems to be the one with the least amount of work and it can be done without a boost gauge.
At least that is what I think, the other option needs one for sure.

So maybe when I will install the plate I get an boost and EGT gauge as well, but then I want to look for a way to install them without welding.

Well time then for a small update since the intercooler finally came :clap
Would take less then a week to arrive, but due to some quality issues with the last one available in the Netherlands the new one had to came straight from the factory.

Time for some pictues then...

The old intercooler, doens't look really bad, but oil came through and after removing it some oil came out as well

Everything just fitted like it should

Then I cleaned the intake. With the intercooler removed for the change now was a good moment to do it again.
Done this 20.000 - 25.000 km's ago and it was a bit dirty, but not as it was te last time

And last but not least, the new intercooler mounted, even the small protection that goes on top will fit :naughty:naughty

The trained eye will notice the intercooler mounting rubbers aren't on there.
I was a bit to enthousiastic my gamble of a Patrol intercooler working on the Terrano that I forgot about them...
So after this picture I got the bolts back out again and placed them.

Also having the oil catch can temporarily in place.
The bracket that it came with doesn't fit were I want it to, so next weekend gonna make one my own so it goes like it should.

Only thing I want to do is get a pair of new rubbers for the intercooler mounting, but as far as my research has got me I came out in Australia for 4 new ones.
So if somebody has a adress a little closer by (?!)

Plans for next weekend are simple, got 2 days without the misses at home so the Terrano gets some attention.
Will do the rubbers on the front brakes, change the gearbox oil, transferbox oil, front diff and do some other little things and maybe clean the truck as well.

For now I'm quite happy with the new intercooler.
Done 100 km's or so with it today and I can feel a difference.
While asking power you will get it and with a hurry last week power dropped from 3200 rpm, but now it keeps on going like it should!
The black clouds while getting on the trottle are also gone.

My brother thinks his truck is down on power and maybe due to his intercooler having blown in the corner and misting oil about the place.

What did you pay for that one in the end?

That is the one!
To me it looks fine and they claim it gives a little more cooling then a standard one does.
