Does 3 into 2.7 go?

On a caravan forum I visit theres a bit of a random question appeared asking if a "2.7litre terrano can be converted to a 3litre"

I'm not sure if it would be one of those no problem jobs or a why bother too much chew job.

Has anyone done or researched this :?:

think we discussed here few months ago, possiblly in connection with
going auto from manual.

feeling was ammount of wiring/'tronics needed easier to just get a
newer truck.

based on value of an older truck imagine best bet is going with a chip
or power box....or more right foot.

Mechanically it should be fairly straight forward but as rbrt says the electronics would be a nightmare. If you were able to bu a writen off 3.0l and transfere everything you needed across it would probably be viable otherwise I think there woul dbe too much involved. Even the dash heads are liekly to be different even if not cosmetically.

BTW - I think the person on th caravanning forum was asking about upgrading to a 3.0l (as in buying a new truck) not converting an existing one.
