Got mine from the same guy, got them for picasso, but identical to Mav Mk I, I sorted out my clock back light today.. about time.....:augie

This guy also sells NGK glow plugs, got mine from there too.
Very fast delivery.

Huge range of bits and not too pricey. Not used them yet so good to hear some good feedback although their Ebay score is pretty impressive!

In fact I was just browsing and found a wheel bearing kit for my 'other' car at half the price I paid! :doh

How to replace a bulb on a Maverick MkI or Terrano T2

You need a 286 T5 bulb, 1.2 Watt 12 Volt
Or as Jim says:--CETA BU286 T5 12V 1.2W W2*4.6D

Pozidrive #2 screwdriver, a short handled one helps.

1 Remove 3 screws at top of speedometer console. Short screwdriver is best.
2 You will need to remove the lower plastic cover below the steering wheel, the cover that has the fuse access panel in it. 2 screws at the bottom, one to right of hand throttle, pointing upwards and one in the side, accessed when the door is open. You may have to remove the lower part of the driver's door seal to allow the panel to come out.
Pull out from the bottom left of the panel, to release the 3-4 plastic push in clips. Leave the cover in place.
3 You should now be able to get to the 2 screws holding in the bottom of speedometer console.
4 Remove the panel, I found that pushing out the switches from the back made it easier to get to the connectors to release them.
5 Unscrew the 2 lower screws of the speedometer pod.
6 Gently pull the pod out, the speedometer cable un-docks from a socket, very nice piece of engineering.
7 Place pod face down, and access to each bulb is easy. Un screw the faulty bulb assembly.
8 Pull the bulb from the holder, and refit a new bulb.

If you test the panel at this time, if like me you have a back light dimmer, don't forget to re-connect the switch to see it dim. :doh

Assembly is the reversal of dissasembly, but keep the pod aligned to allow the speedometer cable to automatically dock.

Time.. it took longer to write these instructions than do the actual job.

20 minutes to half an hour especially if you remove the dust from the back as well.:thumb2

And after all that you get.............

"Paradise by the dashboard lights" :augie

Jim, Is it the case that EVERY bulb will come out of the holder ? I have read some BBS posts elsewhere that suggest that some holders the bulbs are soldered in ? Also on I searched on the web for the 24850G part number and on an american site it shows some vehicles with a separate bulb and holder and others with just an assembly ?

Replaced the dash bulbs some time back on 2000 2.7 TDI T2. Don't remember exactly the steps I followed but think it was in the manual. It was actually a fairly easy job. Didn't bother with coloured bulbs because the face of the dashboard on mine is coloured blue, orange, red etc. for the different functions/lights.

The bulb's have a flat on them with the terminals on each side of the flat. The flat section pushes in to the holder, the holder twists like a bayonet fitting in to the cluster. The bulbs look almost indentical to sidelight bulb's just a lot smaller.

Hi Guys, as the write up did not look too daunting I thought, 'I can do that!':doh

As in the write up pretty easy, one point though I dissagree about the screwdriver, Phillips 2 not Pozi 2, urban myth says they are the same, if you need a lot of wellie on a Philips head & you use Pozi it will most likely slip, same in reverse.

Bulb from Halfords £1.99 their code 'Hal bulb HBU284', 12v 2.3W they said the old one was 2W but not stock item

Pictures before & after below.:thumb2

Another example of a tenner well spent

Need to get some bulbs but some of my holders are missing too. Also some of the holders are bigger than the others, is the bulb still the same ? Anyone got a few knocking about ? I gave all mine away when I sold the TD but I can't remember who got them....
