inside the hub is a circlip from hell! after taking it off spend 5 minutes finding where it landed...

next, undo ball joints. stinka said the top 4 will shear off, he was right!

the big nut is pretty hard to undo, the top bj is £15.

so, new ball joint ordered....next, theres an abs sensor, do not try to undo it!

jap metal will shear as soon as you look at it by the looks of things, ive bent spanners on old british fords!!! it was all fields blah blah blah
next, undo 4 lower bolts to ball joint, long reach 14mm with a 17mm top head. LOOK OUT! the whole hub will fall onto your foot!

forgot to say! DO NOT UNDO ABS BOLT!! unclip it under arch at connection point!

next step is 'orrible, lube up ya cone and pull a rubber boot over it.
top tip, when the boot is just about to go over the cone...shut ya eyes or have a grease shower
to refit is pretty much the reverse, tho i used a jack under the hub and cable ties to reattach the new upper bj to the pesky hub! 2003 plate fixed hub!
keep dry!

I know what you mean about the circlip, I was lucky and had a good pair of pliers, still bloody tricky though.

So how much further would it be to remove the whole shaft, so you could do the inner boot

Easier to take the shaft off complete IMHO

Only 6 bolts on inner flange, then as I said previous, you can carefully remove tripod joint ( keeping it inside outer cup at all times) then slide both new boots down shaft from that end and clean all old grease out and repack well with nice new stuff :)

youve still got to take off all the hub etc tho havnt you? i did think about trying to just undo that side but it looked a bigger b#tch to get to lol

Got to this point last night and attempted to remove the first bolt after being soaked in WD40 for a few hours and low and behold it snapped

What do I do now?

Read the thread, I have mentioned twice in this thread about leaving the 4 small bolts alone as they will snap
