The thing is Alex your truck is an every day motor as well as a weekend play thing so you have to try & balance all of your needs up when it comes to your tyres or run 2 sets of wheels/tyres but I think that might be a bit to much hard work for you keep changing your wheels:lol:naughty Trekkers look great but TBH if you need them for a green lane then you shouldn't be driving it due to it's condition & should be left to recover:thumbs Trekkers would also knock your MPG down even further:doh So here's my options Cooper STT, BFG's, Maxxis Bighorn 764 (heard they can be a bit slippy in the wet) or maybe Mickey Thompson's but you won't like the price of them:lol

85 height ?? :confused:think he's been at the pop tonight guy's:lol:doh

Edit been a couple of extra posts while doing this reply

:clap :lol

So from the sounds of, the bfgs are the same as mine, I will order tomorrow morning :thumb2 consider it done :bow

Good choice for a road going laner :thumb2 and they'll last along time too :D

When you go to place the order ask them if they are the older type or the new km2 or what ever they are called before saying yes:thumbs The thing is tyres which work great for one person won't for another due to different driving styles & terrain driven on:augie

Oh they look tasty:thumb2:thumb2 Alex don't look :lol:doh
Yeh my old simex are getting a bit chewed up now to say the least . trouble is Simex , if you can find them, are bonkers money
So these "look" tasty, but would like to find some real feedback on them :sly

Quick resurrection of this thread as the title got overlooked by my stupidity of tyre confusion.

Is there any more cutting needed for the 33"? I'm running a 2" body and susp lift also :thumb2

Wheel offset will have an influence on how the wheel travels, if the wheel is closer to the body, then the tyres could rub on the inner wing, on full lock, if the offset is such that it has a wider wheel track then the tyres may rub on the rear wheel arch and sill.

So when you consider any replies, ask what the offset is too.:thumb2

With these close tolerances, it might be best to "borrow" a suitable wheel and tyre and check what clearances you have statically, then consider what would happen as the suspension changes...

How much cutting of the arches depends on the off set of the wheel.
The bigger the off set the more cutting you will need to do.
I took my 33 12.50 15 tyre and 8 J rim to a tyre fitter I know and sought his advice.
He measured up the tyre and it was more like 32 1/2 by 12" and he was happy it would be ok on the rim.
His advice was to get 10 j rims to minimise the risk of a heavy knock popping the tyre off.
Have been ok so far but will still get some 10j rims when funds allow.
As for tyre make the choice is yours but like it's been said bfgs are good all round tyre.
If it's only green laning and the odd pay and play that tread pattern will be fine.
Simex and silver stone tread are just way too aggressive for the road.will wear very quick and you might as well chuck an anchor out the back as braking on tarmac will be seriously compromised.

Like I said about 20 posts ago :thumbs

Top knotch reply sir, not sure how I missed that :thumb2

I'm hoping I wont need any adjustment, my current wheels are probably a positive offset as they rub on flex on the rear chassis legs

The new ones I have picked up from Banshee yesterday are certainly offset, by how much I could not tell you but they are recessed in quite a bit.

I'm hoping with the new tyres and new wheels, with the spacers I will have a brutal looking truck  :sly

Oh and to note, I'm going from 32" to 33" but the width remains the same.

There should be all the info stamped on the rim somewhere.
Only true test is to fit one on and see.:thumb2

I hope you keep off the roads when there is snow on them, as wider tyres play havoc with the grip. As has been said, your tyre choice could greatly affect it's road manners.

Personally I think you need two sets of tyres, a sensible road set, for all seasons, which can still be all terrain, but narrower and quieter and then an aggressive off road set to play with.
But since you will need to carry the correct size spare, when you travel to an off road meet, you will need to carry 6 yes 6 wheels in the boot lol... together with a trolley jack, and arms like a gorilla..:lol
You might need to tow a trailer with all the bits and pieces.
So taking that further.. you can see why Rick has an off road 4x4 on a trailer and takes this to meetings. :augie

you must be "avin a girrafe mate :naughty

the small amount of snow we had I went out to play, seeing how sideways i could get the terrano, the Kingpin mud trackers still grip very well indeed in snow.

This myth about muds being bad in snow is a load of  :kissy

EDIT - now stopping, THAT's a different ball game!

Now then that's not quite right is it Alex :nono
It all depends on so many things. To start with how fresh and how deep was the snow. What was the sub surface . Was the snow frozen etc
In fresh soft snow and no hard surface underneath then proper snow tyres or good road tyres will be better than muds . If the snow is just a few inches deep and on tarmac then your muds will probably cut through and you'll think you've got grip.
If it's frozen then neither will help :lol
Two of us were on muds on this day and Stuart was on Coopers ,

Ah, I didnt say which was better, just the fact that they handles themselves in snow. ;)
