33 12.50 R15 - To Balance or Not to Balance

No foreplay, I just want opinions and facts if possible.

If you were about to fit a brand new set of 33 12.50 15 tyres on a set of 10J -32 Steel Rims would you want them balanced?

I'll back story at the end for once.

Definitely, a tyre that size out of balance could do all sorts of damage to the suspension and steering geometry.

Make sure they take the lable off before balancing, someone once showed me how much the balance changed with lable on V off.

As some of you will know I've just purchased a set of 33 12.50 R15 Toyo Open Country M/T's.

I had a right game trying to get them fitted!!! I must have called around 14-15 different places before finally finding somewhere that could do the job I wanted.

The majority of places that I'd just pulled up at were all very cock sure that they could swap the tyre and balance it but I always insisted that the tried to get the wheel on their machine first after being bitten the first time around. A few places told me it could be done then when realising that their kit wasn't up to the job, then started telling me that it was pointless balancing a wheel that big in the first place.

The issue seemed to be that nowhere seemed to have a big enough balancing cone to secure the wheel to the balancing machine, then i found these guys;

I couldn't believe it but they actually modified one of their tools on the machine just to get my wheels to fit!!!! :bow :bow

It just makes me sad how you can't even find a decent tradesman these days, everyone just seems to be a lazy robbing scoundrel

Maybe I'm just unlucky, either way, I've found my go to guys now

Nice find.
I used to use a commercial tyre fitters near me but the owner passed away last year and the business closed.
The guys at rapid fit who I've known for years as our factory used to be next door,have a good go with the equipment they have got and seem to do a decent job:thumb2
