I need some info from the 33 lads on here :naughty

I've cut and hammered my arches somewhat, the 32 MUDs clear the arches now but will the 33s? If not do I just recut and hammer further? What about the rears too? :nenau

There has been some development in my search for tyres, I was not completely sold on the bfg mud tyres, they don't look aggressive enough. The options available for 33/10.50/15 is appalling.. :doh

It was at this point I started looking for 33/12.50/15 and the options are endless. So I will be getting a big agressive set of mud tyres soon, just haven't decided which ones.

I also have wheel spacers which I intend to keep on and makeshift some dodgy arches as I suspect offset wheels with 12.50 will be quite wide? :nenau

Edit, I was also worried about the talk of 12.50 on an 8j but seems all the yanks do it on regular psi of 3/8 so am not worried about that anymore.

The tyre manufacture will list a range of rim widths that their tyres are approved on, if you go outside it, then they will be unsafe, deemed to be illegal and you will have issues with insurance, so check on the tyre website first.:thumb2

Alex are you sure those yanks weren't using bead lockers ? :augie 3 - 8 psi :lol
Now then if you really want to play in the mud, why do you want 12.5s ?
What size are Ricks tyres ?
What size are mine and other who play in the mud ?
Remember that there's no all singing all purpose tyre. So if you're doing a lot of road miles with your road rage tenancies , you must change your driving habits, or have two sets

Mate, I still can't believe your turning your nose up at a bargain set of BFG Muds :doh

Yes the older style looked a bit more aggressive but I've seen the new ones in the flesh and they certainly aren't an AT tyre!

I know you're looking for a super aggressive set like some Simex's and I know you won't listen to me as a lot of us have said it before and you obviously haven't listened then... but tyres that aggressive are a terrible choice for a daily driver.

And remember it's not just that you're trying to fit them on a rim that's a bit on the small side for them, it's also that a 12.5" is really a bit on the wide side for cutting through the mud - I'm fairly certain both Pete and Rick have said the same and they should know :nenau

If the Yanks are running that low it sounds like they're probably using bead lockers...

I just read the title :doh 33s you say lol I thought you were on about 35s
So are you doing 33s on the way to 35s ?

The old BFG MT's were great & many other companies have copied their tread design over the years but the new ones use different compounds in the tread block to aid traction. A great deal of mountain bike tyres have also went this way now, the old school tyres had huge tread blocks & some looked like tractor tyres:lol but they did the job well but the new generation of tyres use many different compound tread blocks which aren't as deep now & I thought they would be pretty useless but I was surprised how good they are & dare I say it they perform much better than the old tyres so going off this I think the new BFG's will cut it:thumbs

How much cutting of the arches depends on the off set of the wheel.
The bigger the off set the more cutting you will need to do.
I took my 33 12.50 15 tyre and 8 J rim to a tyre fitter I know and sought his advice.
He measured up the tyre and it was more like 32 1/2 by 12" and he was happy it would be ok on the rim.
His advice was to get 10 j rims to minimise the risk of a heavy knock popping the tyre off.
Have been ok so far but will still get some 10j rims when funds allow.
As for tyre make the choice is yours but like it's been said bfgs are good all round tyre.
If it's only green laning and the odd pay and play that tread pattern will be fine.
Simex and silver stone tread are just way too aggressive for the road.will wear very quick and you might as well chuck an anchor out the back as braking on tarmac will be seriously compromised.

Urm, who do I reply to first :lol

1: I currently have kingpin mud trackers and they are fine on road.

2: I would gladly go for a 10:50 but show me where (in 33) there not available :nenau

3: I've been searching all day and it seems a huge amount of people are running 12:50 on 8j

4: the bfgs just don't feel right.. I've been thinking about them all day.. I can just see them getting mega stuck, doesent look like it will disperse mud v well at all.

5: I went on their website earlier and the pics of the bfg MUDs looked a bit girly, looked like the tread of a normal car tyre :lol

Looks flat as a pancake :lol

 Kingpin Mud Trackers are not super aggressive, they're just a copy of the old BFG MT tread :doh :lol

Go and look at them in the flesh...

They are available mate but not a common size.
Search for the metric equivalent if you are struggling.
I know what your saying about the tread pattern of the bgf muds but where are you planning on taking your truck to warrant such an aggressive tread pattern :naughty

More interesting points, another problem seems to be two different bfgoodrich tyres, the new one looks a bit better, the old one looks erm..

I really can't convert this stuff it's a proper headache  the website conversion tools ect are like trying to operate a nasa computer too :lol

But the old style BFG MT looks exactly like your Mud Trackers bud

I've been looking at pics online, they look different to me  :nenau

I am really happy with the look of my mud trackers, you reckon I'll be happy with the bfgoodrich then? :nenau

Think I need a nudge in the right direction :augie

I think you'll be happy with BFG MT's bud ;)

Reason I knew the old ones were the same tread is cos I have an old Style BFG MT on my spare....

By the way the metric for 33x10.50R15 is 265/85R15... I used one of those Nasa computers :augie

Yes the new BFG MT tread looks a lot different but when you see the style it's had to replace I reckon it's a safe bet to assume they made sure the new MT could still cut the mustard offroad :thumb2

85 height! Thanks.:D

And on the tyre picture...
