Still no readings from me guys as my MAF is foofed, I'll get this sorted and post them up

Just thinking, but you may need to differentiate between 2.7turbo, and 2.7 Intercooler, plus 3.0, and maybe Petrol? as a lot of people just put T2 in their signature. Also any engine Mods, e.g, Chipped, MAF Amped, Air filter, Snorkel, as they will have an effect on the outputs.

oh if any one is passing and wants their truck plug into my consult tool your more than welcome
:thumb2
Your location just says South East... Where about's are you in the South East as it is a huge area :D

OK so now we need to get the guys sorted out with the 16 pin harnesses

I've been looking around eBay and it seems that you can but a 14pin to 16pin converter but this is the wrong way round;
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-14...iagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item337678aa60

This would imply that you had a 16pin Consult cable and wanted to read 14pin harnesses, the other way round wouldn't be possible I presume as you'd need to utilize all the pin outs to be able to read all the sensors hence the 16pins however, I've not seen a 16pin Consult cable :S

This is an interesting thread, and I would like to hook my truck to the software.

Unfortunately a lot of it is going over my head, especially the IT stuff.

I hope someone might indulge me for minute...

Where do I find the diagnostic socket on the truck?

Where can I get the ECU Talk software from?

I have a laptop with Windows 7 professional loaded. Is this compatible.

I don't know if it has a serial, or USB port. What does a serial port look like?

What cable will I need for a 14pin socket, and which one for a sixteen pin socket?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Regards

Alan

Where do I find the diagnostic socket on the truck? Under dash, up by fuse box on Drivers side. It's loose, and just hangs there.

Where can I get the ECU Talk software from? First post in this thread, there is a Link

I don't know if it has a serial, or USB port. What does a serial port look like? Serial ports are not very common on laptops any more. Generally, it is a 9 pin "D Type" connector, sometimes a 25pin "D type". In the case of the more normal "9" pin, 2 rows of pins, one 5, and one 4, in a loosely speaking "D" shaped housing

What cable will I need for a 14pin socket, and which one for a sixteen pin socket? Again, in the very first thread is an Ebay link to the 14pin. Not 100% sure, but I think the actual output protocol is physically different between the sockets, so not sure you can convert from one to the other.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

See above in red.

Thanks for the reply. I'll start off by finding what plug I have on my car, then take it from there.

It doesn't look to costly to set up either.

Alan

You have a 2001 Sport

I have a sneaky suspicion that yours will be one of the newer 16pin harnesses that its bolted onto a bracket, still under the fusebox though
