I am on tender hooks, what was the result of the slave cyl/pipe test, I really do not think your clutch has gone, I used to do exactly the same test on 280 hp 12 liter truck engines I did nearly 300 k miles in my 2800 Daff had it from new and never had a clutch and only one set of brakes, used to do Vienna and back every week in the winter, I am digressing, Rick

we tested the pipe (According to your advice) and used a camera and light gadget on a stick to look inside the bell housing via the hole for the fulcrum lever, no signs of oil or any other contamination just a worn clutch, and it smelt of burning clutch.

So without spigot bush or crank seal, tomorrow the clutch gets changed, otherwise i will have to miss next weeks rally :(

if it is a worn clutch it will not stall your engine, I am still not convinced, Rick

with your camera on a stick you should have been able to see the center plate edge you have a new plate, how do they compare? Rick

we replaced my clutch better but no perfect, then slave cylinder better but not a lot then after some pumping noticed the flexi pipe was pumping up like a balloon.new flexi and master cylinder perfect.clutch that was removed had very little wear.

Clutch done! :clap

flexi hose fine, oil seal fine, just basically a worn out clutch, almost down to the rivets, cracked and stinking of smoke from slipping.

It would have probably soldiered on for a while longer, but was slipping when towing and i do a lot of that :thumb2

I have photo's so if anyone is interested I can post a few, but not today, I've had enough :augie

Thanks for you input everyone :thumb2

I stand corrected, just goes to show it is not an infallible test, although I have been using that test for over 40 years, Rick

Rick, bear in mind it was not slipping under normal driving conditions, just towing, so by the time it hard started to slip under normal conditions your test may have been right first time. It slipped under your test when hot so it was obviously very close to complete failure - thanks for the advice mate :thumb2

The 'PLANK' in dry dock

Ready for clutch change :thumb2
