The old starter you have on the floor somewhere, pop your jump leads onto it and spin it over. If it works then the issue could well be wiring related and not the starter at all :augie

Like I said :augie

So not a starter issue, what was the wiring fault. What did you find and do to cure it?

Would be good info for others:thumb2

basically the positive lead on the battery needed extending as the end was in poor condition, but i didnt have enough give in the wiring loom to just cut the end off then re-attach, had to extend it with another cable, but the join wasnt good enough.

Those power leads do fail quite regularly  I had to remake mine for the same issue it seems. I undid all the black tape that holds the loom together and put new cable in. Then taped the thing up again.
Glad you're sorted :thumbs

If this was after changing the starter motor the old starter is probably still working.

i will check the old starter motor when i get round to it to see if its working correctly, but i suspect that its fine, in which case i now have a spare! :clap

You may also find it spins fine with no load on it, but may still be broken. Worth holding onto though!
