hello all, the alternator&power steering belts on my 2003 2.7 td nissan terrano are quite worn and could do with changing. Have a user&workshop manual but neither gives much information on how to change them (other than getting someone else to do it). Has anyone done this and was it straightforward enough to be worth doing? Thanks, Rob S

really easy to do.
Slacken the power steering belt adjuster and crack the power steering pump pivot bolt to allow it move.
slacken the alternator pivot bolts and tap it gently towards the side of the engine to slacken the belt.
You have to feed the belts over the viscous fan to remove them.
Follow the above steps in reverse to re fit.
the belt tension is in the manual but can't remember it off hand:thumb2

Thanks for this, i'm guessing the bolts you're describing are the ones next to the alternator and power steering pump with a groove they can be moved along (I was looking at them earlier). I'm glad thats all there is to it..

Done mine a few times now but I've always wondered how everyone else tensions their alternator belt?

I get a pry bar and use that as a lever down the side of the alternator itself, not sure whether that's the right way :nenau feels ropey

I use a hammer shaft to do the same.
No other way as there is no adjuster.

Yeah it's a pretty simple job to be fair.
