I fancy replacing the acoustic matting under my carpet and giving the old carpet a serious clean when I get it all out. Seats are coming out anyway as I have a nice leather set in the conservatory waiting to go in.

As yours is out already, anychance of measuring the size of it all so I can buy the stuff before I start. That way I'll have everything before I have to spend loads on welding when really look down there!

I can vouch for that

Well since I'm putting new carpet in, you can have mine if you want, the rear carpet is fine, it was just the front one that was damp, its in quite god nick, I've had a cover over it , but will give it a wash if you're interested, you can have it for delivery costs. Some of the acoustic matting came off a little

I did have to cut it a bit on the drivers side where the seat belt was because of the toe spot but when its in place, you shouldn't notice it

I might grab the rear part off you as that's the worst part on mine. The rest should clean up fine, but I fancy adding an extra layer of sound deadening underneath.

Any chance of measuring the size of bit I need to do each section?

I'll be fitting the new seats in too, so there'll be a full set of grey cloth seats up for grabs if anyone wants them. Matching gaming chairs for Gail and yourself Ryan?

Hi mate, what's you're drivers seat like as mines worn slightly, yes I'll measure the carpet, what measurements do you you want?

Worn a bit too, but also has a fag burn on it. Cover on passenger seat is fine though, might be transplantable.

Measurements - errrr, width and length? :D

Ahh ok, aye the pasenger might be, yes I'll go measure it........

It's 53 inch long by 51 inch across, I just measured straight across so is add another cople of inches on in the bends and dimples in the carpet.

Which bit of the carpet is that? I'm looking at fitting extra underlay on the lot so that next time I drive 1k miles it'll be a little bit quieter!

Ear plugs... :pep

Slightly cheaper too.

I would guess there is a lot of engine noise from the front bulkhead (firewall) also around the gearbox, and over the rear axle.
Tyres cause a lot of noise, so to do things reverberating (vibrating) at set engine speeds.
I HATE rattles.
Sometimes it is worth stripping the car of all the " junk" remove coins, empty the glove box, doors, remove all the bits from the boot. Take it for a test drive and suddenly you have probably quietened it down a bit already.

It would be interesting to test before and after, on the same road, at the same speed etc.

My first car, a mini was so much quieter after putting underlay under the carpet.

best regards,

Rustic

Oh to hear the rattles and squeaks when pushing the old gal down the A1 at 70mph!

Normal driving speeds, the radio is perfectly audible and general noise is fine, but at any reasonable speeds there's the engine screaming for a higher gear that isn't there, the dreadful sound of the fuel getting sucked through the pipe at an alarming rate :D, general transmission and road noise and, of course, the added noise of a house brick being pushed through the air!

It'll never be a quite motor, not meant to be, but it would be nice to dull the roar a little on a long journey. Getting rid of passengers was my best move last week!

Eh?

I've got the roller blind cover for the load area and the carpet's in the back where it should be (well veg oiled too)

Carpets out and an industrial clean combined with the nice leather seats should hopefully get rid of the underlying decaying dog smell in the car!

I mean I load carpet on the boot floor lol

Well, we washed and disinfected the floor pan of my terrano. Also the Interior panels and roof lining is now out toby too, all that's left in is the door cards and the dash lol. I'm putting in more wiring behind the roof, also got a new roof lining to fit, and Im sealing it all too, also sound deadining is going on the inner roof for warmth when camping, got some help from me mate Jack too. Lots of pics have been taken but my internet still don't work properly but pics will be up when sorted.
