today while driving into halifax , i noticed that the rear of my car seemed " wobbly " .. so i stopped in a layby and checked the back of the car .... i pressed down on each corner and it bounced once then settled on both ..tyres have plenty of tread , ...... im a bit worried because it has to go for a mot shortly ( its first proper one since i bought it ) ..... any ideas ? ... ive had the front arb bushes done .... could it be the rear ones ?? :nenau..... or anything else ?

oh , it seems to be sitting a bit lower than normal , ie the back is slightly lower than the front ..... or is it me worrying ?

last time i checked tyre pressures ( monday ) they were ...... 29 rear ..... 28 front

Could be your LSD Pete might pay to change the oil and make sure it is LSD oil, Rick

You don't have any half filled oil drums in the back do you.?
It would give the same symptons.:lol:lol

Wet salty roads are a bit lively, are both your rear tyres the same tread, pressure, type etc, as it could be the LSD working against you, and slipping on the wet road rather than slip the LSD, when was the last time you changed the oil in LSD?

thanks rick , ive just had a look outside ( ok its dark ) but the front looks higher than the rear ..... any ideas rick ? .... ive done a press test on the shockers and they bounce once then settle

just been having a look in the manual ( i wish i hadnt lol ) ..... omg it could be anything

Well, I counted any one of 16 places, bushes, links etc.
Well that's if it's the back of course.

Crow bar and an assistant springs to mind for this one.
I need to check my rear end, never replaced any bits there yet..
Mine is a bit lively when going down ridges in the centre of the road.

The problem is a bit of wear here that is acceptable and a bit more there ... all adds up, you may find it worse if you change speed quickly.

Yeh, but if it's suddenly noticably lower at the back, I'd be looking for some structural failure:augie
Is it defo down both sides?
If not it could be spring mount plate at the top.

defo down on both sides equally

ok , heres a thought .... what if it isnt the back end , and the problem is at the front ? , thereby making the front rise and making the rear seem low ? :nenau , cos the front end does seem light on steering , but then i suppose it will do if the rear is low

take the spare engine out the boot lol

is the front sitting higher than normal ? is it that same amount of effort to get in and out of the drivers seat ??

the wobble could just be that you lost a weight off a wheel or some one has nicked them lol

take a pic of both sides if you have some street lamps out side

The unusual thing is its the same both sides?
Have you been over any huge speed ramps Sterling?
The ht at the back has to be related to the springs and so poss you've lost the rubber spring seats:augie
Broken both springs(unlikely), any bushes wouldnt fail all at the same time and even then could only account for a small difference;)

How much stuff you got in the boot Pete? I know you put your chair in there but I just remember when I picked your motor up from that un named scam firm that you had a load of paper stuff on board, Rick

pmsl @ sterling .....it does seem easier to get in and out of the drivers seat .. as for speed bumps , yes there are loads around here , but contrary to popular belief i always slow down over speed bumps

that would mean the front end is lower

could have been unlucky enough to have broke both springs

any knocks or bangs or odd noises when going over the speed humps

no karl , the front end is definately higher , i seem to sort of find it easier to get into the drivers seat , maybe its cos im used to it ? ... dunno ... but im almost certain its higher at the front because there seems to be more clearance from the tyre to the top of the wheel arch at the front as opposed to the back ..... hope this makes sense

Have you checked you haven't run over something at the front, :nenau

Maybe the Policeman who was sending you the prosecution.:doh
Could he now be a "Sleeping Policeman" ? :lol:lol

It does sound strange, the bottom hasn't fallen out of you bi-focals has it ? And it just looks sloping.

You haven't parked in someone elses drive have you?:doh

Pete, Have just had a look at your pics when you had your decals fitted and theres 1 of you standing/leaning on the side just before the the rear wheel, maybe if you had a look and tried and compared things in the pic to you ie where your waist belt is or knee height, shoulder height, anything really just pick a few and compare etc then this may help to see if its sagged at the rear, I must say that looking at the pics it dont seem that the arse is dragging at all in fact Id say theres very little in it from front to back, when you look at the pics.

Just a thought eh ?????
