Hi Guys

After a set of roof rails for my '97 Maverick SWB, I'm not sure of there is any difference between the LWB and the SWB ones but logic would tell me they are slightly longer maybe?

Also a Bull Bar for my Mav, Chrome or Black I don't really mind

Cheers

LWB ones are longer but do fit a SWB, has LWB ones on his SWB have a look at his pics and see what you think.:nenau

Who was it that has the LWB ones on mate, you didn't include it in the post

I think it was fez UK but I'm not 100% sure. I'll try and find the thread

What we talking mate including a courier cause I aint coming down there to you lol

Thanks for that but not sure it looks right :/, the front where they attach seems to have a big gap between the roof that seems to just be bridged by sealant, without a closer look I couldn't be sure but I think I'll just go for the ones cncfabs has for sale

I did mine and pics in my link. There's rubber gasket under the foot and that takes the shape of the roof. The trick is to use the LWB roof rackback to front on a SWB. The idea is to get the rails forward enough to carry a bar on which to fit your roof lights and for them to brighten up the topography not the roof :lol

that big gap you say is bridged is not it's metal, these are standard LWB rails but As makeitfit says they are turned around. I copied makeitfit.

I can take some closer pics of it if you like.

The SWB rails are so short it's not really worth having them.

Here's something to get the imagination going, swb rails on a lwb...

I'm so glad you've brought that up as I wondered if that would be the case, how much further back do the SWB ones sit as opposed to the LWB ones as I want them as far forward as possible so as you say, I'm lighting up what's in front and not the roof, I actually want to use them rather than them just being used for show

Some pics would be awesome matey :)

Here's a close up of mine and the light plug/skt

The front of the foot is about 50 - 60mm back from windscreen :thumbs

I like it apart from the dents lol, where did you get the "Ford" cross bar from?

Dents 'cause I parked it on it's side but the roof rails survived as I bolted them in rather than the rivnut method :sly
Fleabay for roof crossbars :thumbs

Zac dont worry about the cross bars they are the same ones I have for you!!
without the dents..lol Rich.

Right then you guys after asking the question about fitting roof rails and roof bars to my Mav I decided to take Fez_UK and makeitfit's advice and I managed to source some LWB roof rails from a scrap yard in Smethwick which I picked up earlier this afternoon :), I also fetched a set of Original Ford roof bars from Coventry last night and met the Richtheracer and his wife, we had a great natter exchanged ideas and he even taught me a few things and so did his wife (nothing rude intended there guys!!! Gutterminds)

I'm quite excited to get them on the roof and couldn't wait to see what they looked like so I just placed them on the roof when I got home to see if I liked the look of it and here was the results, I only put the front roof bar on btw the other one was still in the car

I was really pleased with how they look :) and can't wait to get them attached to the roof properly :), but this is where I need some advice, I've already taken the advice I was given and switched the legs round so the curved one was at the front so I could mount the bar as far forward as I can so I light up more of whats in front rather than the roof.

From searching the forum I've found the optimum position for them and already marked it up.

From what I have been reading, Rivnuts??? don't seem to be the best way of attaching them so I think I'm going to go for the nut and bolt option, so which ones do I need?

Will I need to remove the headlining to re-attach them as when I fetched them they were already off the car?

And what size do the holes in the roof need to be and how can I ensure I don't get any leaks? What should I use to seal round the holes and where abouts is it best to seal?

Sorry for the barrage of questions but drilling into my roof is a big deal to me lmao so I want to get it right first time any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated

Also another thing that was confusing me was the fact that when I was attaching the brackets to the roof rails for the bars, the bars all seemed to slide in from the right of the bracket if you know what I mean, this means that the bracket on the left hand side of the car would be backwards and the Ford sign would be facing the rear of the car, is this right or am I doing something completely and utterly stupid??

Here's some pics to show what I mean

The right hand side bracket (notice Ford badge at front)

The left hand side bracket (notice no Ford badge as the bracket is backwards :S)

I'm not sure but i think Richtheracer has sold me 4 right hand side brackets :p, unless everyone else's are like that too ??

Thanks in advance guys and again sorry for the barrage of questions
