Me and my mates have been and building this rwd red-diesel buggy. We spend a day here and there working on it.

It's based on a ford escort engine, subframe fronts. Pretty much build as we go along so very much scrapheap challenge. :lol

Engine out, We also had it running on the ground to make sure we had marked all the electrics correct.

Stage today, It rolls and turns but we need to stick more struts to the front suspension next. But it rolls so makes it easier to get out to work on it.

we did think about rear wheel steer but decided not to

My mates did the exhaust today while I was away which works quite well.

Also we tested the electrics a few days before above again to make sure they still work and were not damaged while being stored.
They have also been thinning the wires down to make it all simpler.

Love the youtube comment, "it's going to go like fook innit?"
Splendid can't wait :clap:cool:

haha, still a long way off. But making some progress.

It makes me want to have a straight through fume extractor on my maverick :lol

My mates taken off a week holiday at work and has been attacking our budget red diesel project this week. I took a day off work and helped him out tuesday and we rebuilt the front end and suspension stuff with some nice beefy turrets.

We discussed how much this has cost us and roughly worked out this has cost us about £130-150 max.

Seats went in today:

Not sure how we will make the front look, Currently looks a bit mad max style.
Fuel tank and battery are going in the front to try and get more weight there.

Good stuff :) get a thread up on pirate4x4 :lol

Where do you get your metal from ?

Most of the metal comes from a local blacksmiths. Some of the more surface rust stuff is from a local scrapyard and is very cheap, But what you find can vary.

You do realise you're probably drive it for all of 5 minutes then kill yourself. I've got a complete airbag system from an astra if you want it:lol:lol

Aaaahhhhhh, reminds me of my old swb vw beech buggy:sly,

Tanks a good idea at the front, defo, but just chuck some descreet:thumbs:thumbs, wheelie bars on back end, police love that look:cool::thumbs.

But seriously though looking good:thumb2:thumb2
