Karl, This is the bottom line.
AT THE MOMENT yours is ok and the reviews on the Isuzu do say that there are issues with them
YOURS costs the same as a mav/terrano, but I personally wouldnt buy a motor without all its windows intact...:lol :lol
Motorway mpg but what about around town with that autobox going up and down all the time in traffic?????
Personal opinion as to whether we all travel at 70 mph, at 3000rpm, I have had 28 yrs experience at hgv driving and have seen many people sitting at 70 without a cat in hells chance of stopping in a emergency, ever thought of what the distance would be if you wanted to stop, especially considering the weight of the car in the first place.
Rear seats, well it aint a problem for me as theres only me and the missus.
Truth is its early days for the Isuzu, and they aint the cheapest motor to repair IF you have a problem, and if you were to do the same with the Isuzu as you did with the mav are you saying that the same wouldnt happen??
as I say bottom line is there aint a better motor pound 4 pound on all fronts better than the Mav / terranos, trust me if there was I would be driving it.
Oh and dont do what you did with the Mav and go and drown it, it only died due to piss poor preparation truth be known.
I guess youd at least add a snorkel next time out
Dont take this as a personel attack its just to show that we all aint Isuzu fans and are very protective of our choice of 4x4 :thumbs :thumbs
actually if i was to do the same again it wouldnt affect the isuzu due to location of air inlet as this is way back from the front also the front end is higher up
i better clear this up the maverick never actually drowned as such what happened was the front end when into water too steep and too deep as it came off a hill so nose first now if they had be sensible enough at nissan not to put the air intake directly behind the indicators then this wouldnt have happened, i thought it was further back than it was as where the first hole is in the inner wing thats where i thought the intake was but it isnt it is right behind the indicator
but then even with preparation side of things other than a snorkel the same thing would have happened, it was down to me not realizing how deep the initial entry was
now economy side i put in £20 and got 110 miles out of the mav and for the same £20 in the izuzu (bear in mind the fuel prices have gone up since i last put fuel in the mav) i get 170km that's mixed driving around Manchester
to me they are pretty even around town but come motorway the isuzu takes it as the mav at 70mph just drank fuel may have been a problem with my engine
parts price wise checked milners for prices as you will find the isuzu cheaper again ie cylinder head nissan £260 cylinder head isuzu £222 & clutch kit nissan £114.00 isuzu (ok mine dont have one lol) £94
dont know about reliability side of it
braking side of things i would beat the mav as i have abs and the mav didnt
saft side of it the isuzu is bigger than the mav is it stronger i dont know
i wouldnt be adding a snorkel to the isuzu as the water can be higher than in the mav
dont get me wrong i wasnt saying the trooper/bighorn was better that the t2 i was just saying that it makes life easier for me in the long run, trust me i dont take things to heart :thumbs:thumbs:thumbs
but i will maintain what i have said in my experience the mav terrano and the td27 engine is very far from the best engine available even with its full stamps by the company that makes the thing it has proven to be unreliable, also like to add it also needed a new alternator after 3mths of a new one being put on and that was from nissan and was an original part
