My Dad had Hodgkin's disease, cancer of the Lymph system... unfortunately, he was one of the early ones, and the treatment was just as dangerous as the cancer, so it was the treatment that got him in the end. Luckily, he was a "Straight up" man, and saw the irony in the doctors saying that they had learnt a lot from him, and he would be helping a lot of people live in the future... but as macabethiel says, those sort of results take a lot longer to come back, and are not found in a blood test.

I hope your visit to the vet.. er I mean doctor goes well today.:doh[/QUOTE]

Sorry to hear about your Dad. When I had my treatment for stage 2 Hodgkins the survival rate was around 65% its now in the 97% region. I had the old Vincristen drug treatment the side effects were awful. When it came back 4 years later the Chemotherapy drugs were much improved. Ted

I am not sure what the treatments were, I was at an age, where I tried to shut it out, and pretend that it would all go away (La La Laaa, La). I know the effects from the Chemo treatment he had, were worse than the cancer it's self (He lost all his teeth, hair, got several ulcers, and had some bone thinning, resulting in a dodgy jaw), and he always swore he would not have it a second time. He was on some pain killers, I think it was something like Distalgesic (sp) and the first time he took the recommended dose, he lost 3 days, as they wiped him out cold. The doctor said that was preferable, as most people hallucinated on them...This was all back around 1977 to 1990, and thank goodness, they have jumped forward a huge amount..

It's good to hear of a positive case now though...:thumb2

Anyway.. sorry to hijack the thread exosteve:doh

I must admit I was a bit worried as the doc said results would be about 10 days and it was the next day they phoned me.
I usualy have to chace anything up with them.
being a drinker and a smoker isn't a healthy lifestyle too,
on the upside I have been prescribed champix to quit smoking. which will save me a massive 20 quid a day (I smoke a lot of cigars)
they make you quit wether you want to or not.
I quit about 3 years ago with these for well over a year.
I wont go into details about the last worst 2 years we have ever had but like a tit I started again.
I will not relapse again
