Cleaned up the floor inside today and treated it with stone chip. It's reasonably tough and non slip and I had some in the garage

Re-positioned the sunroof drain while I was there :thumbs
Not having that draining into my rock sliders anymore.

Actually startd rewiring all the inner wing gizmos today, god knows what they are for . I forgot years ago :p

Is that the dam sunroof drain sticking out below the hinge.

Yes mate . Remember my sill is about 50mm shorter than stock. It normaly goes out the front of the sill behind all that plastic stuff road cars drag around with them :lol

Now in theory my 05 plate shouldnt have that tube because theres no sunroof. Mind you Ive still hosed that area out at both sides this afternoon.

I do the same Jim to get shot of the muck that builds up there as it'll hold water & make the sills rot even faster:doh

Even without a sunroof, the condensation that collects on the inner shell will drain down INTO the sill. It's meant to drain out but the holes often get bunged up. Sills defo worth a squirt of that rust preventer stuff :thumbs

Yep, My rear sills on my mav were rotten at the back. It is like a 1996 model but still has no sunroof.

New Year apparently :augie So a little enthusiasm has crept back into team Black Pearl ;) New oil filter, done. New oil, done. Starter motor stripped , cleaned and firing again. Glow plugs out and cylinders having a little soak tonight. GP solenoid to change and rewire in the morning and then try and fire her up again :drums:
Fingers crossed chaps

Thanks chaps , just in from a day of hidden tasks
Starter motor live terminal bolt had got a bit burnt from my testing in the garage,. trouble was I didn't spot it till I was trying to connect up the cable on the truck :doh Take it out again, clean up thread and refit :hmh
While I was there I noticed the sensor that goes onto the block just to the right of the dip stick was missing it's wire :nenau Eventually found it wrapped round the diesel pump :wasntme Rewired that  Connected up the battery and low and behold the old girl spun over a treat :)
As I had the GPs out I did a quick compression test . Bugger, no 2 is down a lot . Did 4 cycles of tests and it started to improve. Put a bit of oil in and they all improved , so I hope it's a sticky valve .Fingers crossed. GPs back in and re-connected the buzbar . No volts  News/h solenoid in, no volts  Checked wires and found a corroded terminal so fitted a new one and boom, volts ;)
Having got this far I had to go for a warm up and let the battery charge up a bit .
May as well do the fuel filter as it's sat there for a couple of years with bio in it :augie Just a little bit of water in the bottom but better out than in. New filter in, refit and prime, er,I said , prime, er damn it no prime action now :doh Right, more tea and a warm.
Primer bulb off , topped up with diesel so the filter bowl assembly is full, and reconnect bulb. Still no pressure. hmph. I suspect the whole feed pipe from the tank is empty so it's going to take a bit more pump action. OR I've got a pick up blockage.
All in all not quite the day I had planned and now it's too dark and I want a beer and a warm and well it is Sat night .
Try again tomorrow :D

Good effort mate!!!!

Thats makes the few jobs I did today look insignificant :doh

Going to attempt to fit my new spots tomorrow :sly

If it was only the Pearl I was working it would be running now :lol
I also fitted the wife's new radio in her MX5
The lights on my Vito were like a Christmas tree so had to sort those too. Merc wiring is poo :p

Well done :clap, are you going to use it as a road going toy when its finally working again?

Only long enough to do rolling road tests etc and see what all these engine mods have "Actually" done . Then a magazine slot and then sell it.
Any monies raised will go straight into the Trol :naughty
I'd like to get all my ideas on it finished and tagged

Ok Pete, how's the pearl coming along. Not had an update for a while. Have you given up on the poor truck?
